Re: using the zoo med hygro/temp controler
I think it was just bad luck that I got a bad one. Most of the reviews are good that's one reason I got it. Ideally it's set up for only one tank, if you had two tanks that were set up identically then it might work better. As it sits right now my ten gallon tank has higher humidty than the twenty d...

Dried fruit
When giving the crabs dried fruit do you need to moisten it. If I give them wet fruits I end up with fruit lies in the tat.

Re: using the zoo med hygro/temp controler
Talked to Zoo Med and they are sending out a new sensor chip for the probe should be here by the end of the week or earlier. If that does not fix the problem they will send me a new one. I am using it in conjunction with a digital hygrometer keeping my humidty between 80-90% depending on how high l ...

Re: using the zoo med hygro/temp controler
This turned out to be a piece of junk. Calibrated it and it was anywhere from 8% to 14% off can not use it. Will be sending it back. Ended up going back to my timer, running the humidifer for 15 minutes every 15 minutes during the day just to keep my humidty up.

using the zoo med hygro/temp controler
To begin with I have two tats, one is a ten gallon with three I do believe molting crabs, and a 20 long that has 5 crabs in it. I am running a humidifer that I split between the two tanks. I am getting the zoo med hygro/temp controler to control the humidty in the two tanks, of course the ten gallon...

Re: Hygrometer recommendations?
I'm not comfortable putting something that requires a battery in the tank. I think the one I'm going to try is this one Acu-Rite Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer 00891 that has a probe measures indoor/outdoor temps and humidty.

Night time temps
How does everybody keep their night time temperature up. I have two tanks a 10 gallon and a 20 long the temp in the both falls below 70°, until the heat lamp comes on. I have a small uth on the back of both tanks above the substrate the ones you can purchase in the pet stores.

Humidty
Where is the best place to put the probe for the digital humidity gauges. I have a 20 long with about six inches of substrate and a 10 gallon with around 3-4 inches substrate.

Re: Upgrading tank a couple of questions
Thanks for the info. My problem is that I have too many crabs in the tank that they are in. I have eight small crabs in a ten gallon. Didn't realize I had too many when I set it up. Its been a long time since we had hermit crabs.

Upgrading tank a couple of questions
Just received a 20 long for my crabs. Was wondering a couple of things, how would I go about disinfecting it because the tank had a gecko in it. Also most of my crabs have been down since we got them, which has only been a few weeks or so, I have no idea if they are destressing or molting. Im pickin...
