Not eating and not very active as far as I can see...
Just to clarify...Prime needs to be used for both freshwater and marine saltwater. You have to dechlorinate both of them. You stated that you only used Prime for your fresh water. I know it is easier said than done, but try not to worry. I cannot remember how long you have had your hermit crabs, bu...

Re: Limp or dead crab need help ASAP
Zoomed fresh and salt water conditioner and most food labeled for "Hermit Cab", can both be unsafe for crabs or isn't doing them any good. Please see the safe food list and the list of safe and effective water treatments like Instant Ocean for salt water and something like Prime for fresh. The salt ...

That is very nice! You utilized the space nicely! I think that it is easily forgotten that tanks have lots more space if you can find a way to add "levels" to get the most out of it.

Re: Transition From 1 1/2" to 2"
The biggest of my PPs are currently in shells with about 1 1/2" openings. I just purchased some new shells for my PPs and the next size up that I could find, were shells with about 2" openings. The new shells look incredibly large next to them. Is there anywhere to find something in between? Has an...

Not eating and not very active as far as I can see...
I have two PP crabs. One is under and one just came up from a molt. As far as I can tell, the newly molted crab (about 3 weeks) has not eaten or really moved from his spot in the coconut hut. There was a situation a few weeks ago where he came up and started digging all around. He apparently ran int...

Re: Molter killing other molters
There is always a chance that they passed from other reasons and the smells drew the other crabs in after the fact. Without having actually seen it happen, it can't be known for sure. While back to back molting can be completely normal, it can also signal that something is wrong that they're trying...

Re: Molter killing other molters
I'm terrified that this is exactly what is happening in my tank. My 2 smallest (little bitty things) went down within a few days of getting them (one after 2 days, the other 4 or 5) and then my normally chill small-ish crab (Cowboy) began frantically digging and even getting aggressive toward the b...

Molter killing other molters
All 3 of 4 of my crabs had been down for months. They were molting. Some were doing back to back molting. All had molted at least 2 times but one and he had gone down for his second molt. He was visible from the bottom of the tank, so I got to see him shed his exo and eat it. The crab that was not u...

Adding sub.. just double checking...
All of my crabs but one, are currently under and molting. Three are solid -smalls, and one is still under eating his exo, but he looks like he is three times bigger than he was before. So I would guess he will come up as a solid medium. He is at the very bottom on the glass in his cave and he has 8 ...

Re: Possible molter under water pool?
I'm sorry my camera is super old and doesn't show it very well since the spot I can see is small. I'm not sure if it's algae or a bacteria bloom (I don't know what the bloom is). Maybe algae if that can grow. It's bright green like someone dyed the sand where it is and I can still see the grains of...

Cat peed I'm empty tank
I would restart, but that's just me. The last thing I would want is cat pee smell in my house. The other last thing I would want would be to find out that I didn't quite get it all and have to take everything and everyone out after I had it completed, just to have to redo it any way. Sent from my iP...

YAAAAAAAAAAY! That is so cool! Congrats! And if he's way bigger, that sounds like a great excuse to go SHELL SHOPPING! :congrats: :yippee: :occasion1: Edit - oh, and you could keep a log of how quickly he eats his exo, and which parts of it dissappear preferentially. .. if it wouldn't mean b...

All of my crabs buried a few weeks ago
Ohhhhh!!! Some super exciting news! I went to check on Biggie Claws. He is the one who recently molted a couple of months ago. He was the one I mentioned above, who was at the bottom of the tank in a cave and might be back to back molting. I checked on him yesterday morning and he was still down the...

All of my crabs buried a few weeks ago
A few weeks ago all four of my crabs buried themselves. They have all molted at least twice since I have had them. Before going under, they all looked very healthy and were normal crabs. I can see one of them is at the bottom of the tank in a little cave. He still has long black nails and hairy legs...
