Re: Upgrading from tote to tank
Here is the final habitat! Sorry for the centuries it took to respond with the photo. I added a couple of who was out and about. You can see my shy-est, Susan, coming out of her shell, pun intended, and I believe that is Antoinette hanging by 2 feet fallen asleep or just startled by me walking into ...

Moving Across Country
Hello! I am a college student living in Virginia and I have 7 PPs. Next fall, I plan on moving to Utah to finish college. I would hate to separate from my army and would like some advice about bringing them with me. I would be traveling by plane and taking them all with me, along with my gihugeic ta...

Re: Lost all legs but little pincher!!!!
She seems to be doing alright. Daisy has buried herself under the substrate and I have her isolated. She's still under and as far as I know, alive and kicking.

Smooth green snake with hermit crabs?
I'm curious if I can keep my smooth green snake with my hermit crabs (in my new and rather large tank.) They are both semi to full arboreal species, their diet is similar, as well as the temperature and humidity. The green snake is docile and minds it's own business. Will they get along? (most of my...

Lost all legs but little pincher!!!!
I was washing off the shells in their little bucket with hot water from my bathtub and there was a little gal inside one of the shells with two legs missing. I quickly snatched her out of the hot water and she drops all her legs but her little pincher. I'm hand-feeding her honey and bee pollen and s...

Re: Upgrading from tote to tank
So I have decided that I am tired of waiting for the tank I ordered, since odds are, it isn't going to come. Today I am going to Richmond to shop for a new tank.

I'm glad she didn't pinch me with her big claw. I think it was more of a "hey why am I being held" or a "hey I kind of want to eat your hand" [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk My hermit crabs pinch me with their little claw all the time. Then the look up at me in childish wonder. "What t...

Currently, Susan is sleeping in the fishbowl cave, and Castiel is sneaking off into the shell shop.

Re: Perlatus in a Turbo sarmaticus shell
Beautiful. I think these shells originate in Africa, if I am not mistaken, so it would make sense a strawberry might pick it.

Re: Crab went down wearing massive shell- dead?
Maybe she just wanted some wiggle room for the molt. I had a hermit crab that wore a shell much too big for it too. Reminds me of a baby in a giant hat that can barely see over the brim.

Re: Substrate + live plants questions
I've known a few crabbers to use devils ivy (Epipremnum Aureum) without problems, so I sure they are fine. And if anything, the Philodendron hederaceum could work as well since PP's and the Philodendron have an overlap in its native range. Some of the plants I have collated over the years are: - Ai...

Re: Chunky-legged hermit crab?
This Purple Pincher was a pity purchase several years ago and didn't make it, but you can see how absolutely massive those legs can get with age. The eyes get fatter stalks but are still on the beady side. He was a borderling jumbo so wasn't as huge as they can get. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com...
