Wound in BP
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181216/30b3a7028ea6b2cdf17e4d24c78b29c9.jpg My biggest hermit Rocky had his tunnel collapse just after a molt, so I moved him to an iso container so he could recover and eat his exo. Yesterday I saw him kind of resting up on the container but I didn’t think much o...

Re: I messed up
It happens to all of us. If there were leg tips around him he likely has already molted, sometimes they won’t eat that part.

Re: Almost immediate molt upon purchase?
Totally normal for them to molt after purchase, could also be simply de-stressing under the sand. How deep is your substrate?

Re: Overcrowded?
Even with the most generous spacing rule of 5 gallons per crab you end up at 65 gallons. Subtract some for the tiny’s also. You sound fine to me!

Re: Sand in Shell.
Do you have a shell shop? A shower caddy mounted on the glass keeps the shells clean and together.

Re: Missing hermit crab
Strawberrys are very fragile so it is possible that he went down to moot and didn’t make it through. He also could still be molting- 3 months isn’t untypical!

Re: VERY WORRIED- No signs of crabs for nearly a week
Sounds like normal behavior to me! Try not to stress (I know it’s hard). But they may be molting or just distressing with the new tote. They will come up!

^that is not an appropriate amount of crabs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk No, its fine. However they may find in the next couple of months that they will run into problems. But for now, 3 small crabs are fine. (In the past, many had 3-4 small PPs in a 10g and they did fine for a couple of mont...

Make sure that the spare shells in your tank are not painted and take this out when he changes.

Re: How many crabs in a 10 gal?
Sorry for your loss! Do you maybe want to fill out the emergency template so we can try and figure out what happened? Personally I think that a 10 gal is too small for any crabs, but you can safety fit 2 small-medium crabs. So with your medium you will need to upgrade soonish and if you want to get ...

Re: Evacuating with crabs
Thanks for the support all, overnight the wind died down a bit and it doesn’t look like we will have to evacuate. If we do I will take all the advice here and put it to good use.

Evacuating with crabs
Several fires have broken out over Los Angeles and me and my family may have to evacuate very soon. We are prepared to move all of the pets except for the fish, but I was thinking we should maybe leave the hermits. They can be left with a big bowl of food for 24 hours, and of course we will come bac...
