Re: Never active?

Definitely! I would even comfortably go 85/85 during the day. 80/80 at night would be a nice replication of evening temperature drops. Can I ask what you normally offer them to eat? Stuff by Hermies Kitchen with supplemented fresh food-apples and romaine lettuce mostly, but some other things too. P...

Re: Never active?

They do take really miniscule bites. Have you tried smoothing out the sub to see if there are any little foot prints? Also, if you get your temp & humidity up to 80, you'll likely see more activity. Their metabolism increases with a rise in temp, so they get hungrier & a lot less lethargic at about...

Never active?

Basic info: two pp's in a ten gallon with 4-6 inches of sand (its sloped slightly)-70 degrees and 70% humidity. Lots of cover around the tank, and fresh/salt water. Since I've gotten them they seem like they're in molt 24/7-- they never come up to eat or drink, and if they are up, they just sit in t...

Re: Hello- new member and new crab

Looking good for your first setup. Take your time, but 75% humidity is ok, but a little low... It should probably be about 80% or higher. You should also have water bowls deep enough that your biggest can fully submerge in them. You can use needlepoint canvas or egg crate to build little ramps into...

Re: Hello- new member and new crab

He's a PP. :) Its probably best to get the new guy into the tank straight away and get him in some new conditions. However, if you can add his companion at the same time, then its an added bonus. Like you said, bath them together and add them in the new tank. :) As for the heat source, a UTH (the p...

Re: Hello- new member and new crab

Thank you! We'll be sure to grab a companion as soon as we have a tank set up for him as well-Should I bath them both and add them into a new tank at the same time to prevent any arguments? I also have no idea what kind of crab he is-Here is a link to the two photos I have of him https://www.instagr...

Re: Hermit Crabs in the Mall of America

The crab I just got was from that stand- the conditions they sell them to you in are meh. You have to buy a kit and food so at the end it's $25 or so for a crab, some neon gravel, a really small critter keeper, an extra shell and a little piece of wood. Sooooo But the guy working there was very nice...

Hello- new member and new crab

Earlier today on a day visit to the mall of America I came across a hermit crab stand selling kits. As an animal enthusiast I was immediately excited to check them out, as I usually don't get the chance. After some convincing and pleading to my dad, he gave in. So now I have a hermit crab (ridiculou...
