Getting worried
My little Sneaker has been down for almost 3 months and I am getting a little worried. Bring the smallest of my 3 crabbies I figured he would have the shortest molting time. I don't smell a fishy smell that would indicate death but I no longer smell the chemical molting smell. It is way past time to...

Post Molt Daredevil
Ever since Bling has resurfaced she has been quite the daredevil. The past 2 days I have come home to find her hanging off the gauges. Tonight as I was locking up I noticed her hanging upside down in the middle of the mesh lid. Should I be worried about her hurting herself?

Post molt questions
So Bling finally surfaced and 24 hours later Sneaker dug under. Is it normal for one yo stay top side until one of the others finishing molting? Bling has been very active post-molt and eats like a pig. I resently noticed what I thought were small worms in the food dish and I'll be honest I kind of ...

molting success
For the past 6 weeks I have been fretting about my 2 crabbies that were buried in the sand. This morning I got up and check on my little hold out Sneaker (the only one still on the surface) and I see that Bling has surfaced. I read that larger crabs can take 8 to 16 weeks so Big Red will probably be...

Eating Habits
I have a question about the eating habits. When I first got my hermies and learned how to properly feed them they ate like little pigs, almost all the food would be gone but now they eat very little. Sometimes it looks like they just walked around in the food. Is this normal?

Adding New Pool
I am planning on adding a bigger pool this weekend but have a few questions. I have seen several DIY pools deep enough for my babies to submerge completely and I am wondering is anyone has successfully used plastic craft canvas as a means for crabs to climb out of the pool? Also would it be better t...

Store bought hermies
We bought 4 hermit crabs from Petco on Labor Day and as of this morning are down to 2. The crabitat is a balmy 80 degrees with humidity at about 79%, they have fresh and salt water that is changed daily, several food choices and a moss pit that they love. I have so many questions, have I missed some...

egg shell question
When using eggshells for calcium, can you use pieces that are peeled off boiled eggs? If you use shells from raw eggs should they be washed?

Re: Molting in the Moss Pit
I have that fear, ever since I put the moss pit in all 3 crabs hang out in it. One of them is starting to look a little grey and I'm afraid if it molts in the pit it might not survive. I thought I might take the pit out for a couple of days and see if he/she will dig into the sand. Any thoughts?

New to crabbing
Got totally hooked on hermit crabs last month when my partner brought 2 home from the beach. I immediately hit the internet researching what they needed to live, went and bought a tank and all the stuff to set up a basic crabitat, unfortunately the poor little guys didn't survive. So after giving a ...
