Re: Salt water bubbler
This is not helpful BUT I LOVE THAT SHELL ON YOUR CRABBIE :) I too get salt build up, i scratch it off when it gets thick. The crabs completely ignore it and although its ugly its appears to be harmless. Please someone let me know if im incorrect in my assessment. So far ive been lucky and nothing b...

Re: Food advice needed
Hi, the only thing i like to get from petstores is freeze dried bugs ( crickets/worms) etc and cuttlebones. Most crabbers have noticed the hermit crab food sold at pet shops is full of chems and fillers and is actually bad for hermies. Personally I think they get away with it bc they dont expect the...
Re: long molt
Those long molts do make you worry. This June ill be 1 year crabbin and I am still not used to "losing" my crabs for weeks and sometimes a month + at a time. As Jmafnas said : digging up a slow molter would really stress him out. And if hes walking on the Beach in the Sky, theres nothing more you ca...

Re: Apple snail shells- any good for PPs??
If you have larger E's maybe. If they are cheap enough to get a few, they're worth a shot. I found a place that has Mexican turbos for $1.00 each locally. Planning on stocking up next time I go by. I really need more large (1.25"-1.75") shells because some of my guys have grown lately. Sent from my...

Re: Apple snail shells- any good for PPs??
Hi crabbers, saw a really good deal on some apple snail shells. They looked thicker/studier than your run of the mill land snail shell. Any one here think its worth buying or stick with turbos? My guys have worn whale eyes which seem flimsy compared to turbos but favor the snakeskin turbo. Once i u...

Re: New shells
Yep! Seconding Turtle.
I like to inspect them as well. You never know. I run my finger over the edge to make sure its not sharp. If im feeling funky ill hide them around the tank. The boys love finding "new" freshly washed shells.

Hi GB, the longest side is 36" , so this is basically going to stretch the entire length w room for adhesive. Thanks for chiming in!
One follow up: this pad is ready out of the box, yes? Just needs to be taped to the back and insulated if needs be.

Re: Destressing?? Curious new crab owner seeking advice/tips
I'm a new (proud) crab owner/rescuer. On a vacation, my gf and I seen some hermit crabs at a gift shop. They were in a wire cage with a wooden floor. Knowing crabs need sand to dig, i felt terrible and rescued/adopted 3 crabs, hoping i can give them a better life. Well, roughly 100 bucks amd a week...
