Re: Shell less Friend
What brand and size of heating pads are you using? With that many plus a heat I'd think you're temp would be better since they need 80° min to thrive well. Lower temps for extended time can make them lethargic. Humidity also needs to be 80% min do they can breath well. Also wood chips aren't recomme...

Re: HELP: EXTREMELY TINY WHITE BUGS IN BOTH WATER DISHES?
Probably food mites my tank had them I'd find them on their food and they'd get in the fresh water too. Looked just like those. Weren't a problem just very annoying how fast they get into stuff when I put fresh water and food in my tank.

Re: New and Confused :)
No need to bake your substrate. Just mix with saltwater to sandcastle consistency and your good to go. If you mist your tank use declorinated fw so you don't overload your substrate with salt since salt doesn't evaporate. Also make sure it's 3 times as deep as your biggest crab.[SMILING FACE WITH SM...

I didn't think of that. It makes total sense though.soilentgringa wrote:I wouldn't reuse painted shells, personally. Any of the toxins from the paint would have leached into them. They're still porous even though they look shiny to us.

Re: Can molting fix an eye??
I love his name! And he is a cutie[emoji177] This has not personally happened with our hermies but from what I have read on this forum, and as Rawrgeous mentioned above, it can be more difficult to repair the eye. It may even take several molts and even then he still may not have much vision in the...

Re: Violets shell change
You can take a small pocket knife and scrape off the paint from those shells for other crabs to use. It looks like you have a few moon snail shells (I think). Sandpaper would probably work too but I use a pocket knife. Thanks! I'll try that. The hulk shell might be a loss though it has alot of pain...

Re: Violets shell change
Oh yeah nasty, have you tried pealing off the paint to see what type of shell is underneath? Here's the one she was in. It's like they used glitter glue then sesled it with some kind of clear coat. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161202/774318bd73338a7fb8995f337ec71205.jpg Sent from my SM-G900P u...

Re: Violets shell change
i had a feeling lol, her reaction to the new shell was similar to my largest crab who will flip flop more than once daily when he is shopping Yep she switched back to the turbo and has stayed in it, but that was probably her fourth switch that day [emoji29]. I was just glad she switched out of the ...

Can molting fix an eye??
I know molting can help a crab regrow limbs so I was wondering about eyes of maybe it can fix them. I got two new crabs to add to my colony a week ago and didn't notice at the time, but one appears to be blind in one eye so he's been named cyclops. Has anyone delt with something like this? http://up...
