https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170112/a8b0099116709328af451d2060065227.jpg Two questions, pls: 1. What did you put on top of the eggcrate to separate the substrate from going through? 2. How are you siphoning excess water under the false bottom? I know its through the PVS, but how? Are you usin...

Re: Quick change
I got a new E a couple of days ago, and he was literally in a new shell walking around within five minutes. I love it when they're decisive!

Re: Did I kill my hermit crabs?
Your conditions sound fine. Unfortunately, it's unlikely you'd be able to smell a dead crab beneath the substrate. It usually doesn't get past it. Some crabs are just chill and sit around a lot. With your conditions and the active crab, I'd say your cocohut guy is just a personality thing. For the b...

I do literally the exact same as daws. Pretty sure we have the same dishes (haven't we talked about this before?). Re: Substrate math?
Thank you so much for the replies, everyone! I really appreciate it. EadvEnturEs - Oooh! I hadn't thought about doing a false bottom - but I'll be researching it, now, too, as I think I've heard it helps if you get a flood issue...? I'm going to have to look for more shower caddy stuff. The ones I ...

Re: Substrate math?
Okay, so after quite a bit of reading, I really didn't find anything rock solid for a play sand/EE mix recipe, other than 5:1. Basically, what I'm wanting to know is how many EE bricks (moistened with dechlorinated water) do I use, per 50lb bag of play sand? I'm attempting to plan a 50gallon setup,...

65G Build for 3 Es - Back in the Game!
Thanks guys!! My first tenant, Luna, is here safe and sound. She's from a knowledgeable crabber that needed to rehome for personal reasons, so I took her only remaining E. She's recently up from a molt and from good conditions, so she shouldn't be hiding much! She's not afraid of anything and is ver...
