Re: Aaaand now I have strawberries-- story and questions
Very cool. I have straws too. Sounds like you got it down. Watch for aggression from the pp's. Mine were a little mean to my straws when I first got the straws. Straws are also very docile, they never fought back, just submitted to the pp's. On the sw as long is they can submerge, but the bigger the...

Okay so late yesterday I gave them four flower petals from the dogwood. They ate them in a couple hours.

Re: Quickcrete play sand?
I'm no expert on this but I use quickcrete sand with fw and mix in coconut soil with sw. So I get the benifits of the anti-mold from the salt. But I do believe that just salt is too much. I would think in the wild the dirt they dig in wouldn't have but so much salt in it. I'm sure being close to oce...

Dogwood tree safe?
So I have a dogwood tree in my yard. I was wondering if anyone knew for sure if its safe? Like bark, leaves and flowers? I didn't see it on either food list. Its part of the Cornus tree family. And how about Magnolia too? Its part of the Magnoliaceae family. Just found this link that says dogwood is...

Re: Crab underwater with no shell on.
My E did the same thing!!!! It scared the snot out of me! He would spend hours down there at a time and I came home one day to find him floating around in there without his shell so I immediately took him and his shell out and reshelled him. I am so nervous to put a bigger pool in because I don't w...

Re: Baby hermit crabs or.. what??
Let more of an expert on here about zoea say for sure. Mine have never had any, although I'm pretty sure one had eggs once. But they sure look like it. Makes sense since it left them in saltwater. From what I'v read its insanely hard to breed hermit crabs and keep the young alive.

I like what everyone else said. Is the small hut painted? If so I would get rid of it.

Re: Crab underwater with no shell on.
I wouldn't worry about him being underwater. I've seen mine stay under for as long as three hours. Perhaps he got air in his shell or something. As long as he has a shell, don't worry. Next time you see without a shell, take out and re shell him. Is the brown spot his molting sac? Sent from my iPho...

Re: New Hermits in China!
Welcome. I also have three strawberries. Looks like most everything has been answered. Is far is keeping crabs from eating each other you want to make sure you have plenty of room for them to molt, especially strawberries. They should have 10 to 12 inches of good moist sub. Some crabs are never that...
