I have have several of those - some on their own and a couple attached to cocohuts. Haven't had any problems [WHITE SMILING FACE]

Re: Topper for a 55g?
I'm actually in the lookout for a cheap 20g. If/when I find one I'm going to knock the bottom out and replace the flipped over one I have now. I have to use a long grabber to reach the "underside" of the topper... Saw a 20g at a yard sale last week & she only wanted $20 (said she was open to offers ...

Re: Topper for a 55g?
Thank you! I made a couple of changes - took out the cork round and added more plants. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow

Re: Topper for a 55g?
After 2 months of delays and chaos I'm so happy to say that the 55g + 20g topper is complete! I'm going to give it 24hrs to see how the temp and humidity do. If they remain somewhat consistent I'll be moving my 3 big guys that are up over tomorrow night. The topper contains a moss pit, 2 shell shops...

Re: Cholla wood
Ebay is a great source for cholla as well. It might even be more cost effective. ;) I've gotten both of my longer pieces (18-20inches) from eBay. The smaller pieces are cheaper but they are the narrower-holed ones - not the teddy bear kind (I think that's what it's called - not 100% sure haha) Its ...

Re: Cholla wood
Thanks - I thought you had mentioned that! I think I'm going to ziptie it to the shower caddies to create a little bridge between them[WHITE SMILING FACE]

Re: Salt water dish cleaning.
I use doubled up Tupperware containers for both my salt and freshwater - I think most on here do the same

Re: Mixed signals about bedding
You can also keep it separate. When I first started crabbing I did half of the tank beach sand and half of the tank ee. The crabs eventually mixed it all but it looked cool! :) Edit: as long as you mix it with dechlorinated msw or dechlorinated fw to sandcastle consistency tunnels will not collapse...

Re: Mixed signals about bedding
Ok so I set up my 40B today (I'll post pics soon) I'm also on a hermit crab FB group. So anyways, I did one quarter of the tank play sand, and 3 quarters of the tank EE and sand mix. Everyone on FB is telling me I need to mix everything throughout the whole tank and it can't be separated in case th...

Re: Topper for a 55g?
I plan to attach 3 strips on the main tank (front, left side, back) and then 3 strips to the topper in the corresponding places. Will prob create a seal with plastic wrap...this is all in theory - haven't actually attempted it yet, waiting until the sub is completed[SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES] S...
Mint
Definitely not the best picture, but we are growing some mint this year. I picked a couple of leaves and even one of my impatiens and my 2nd biggest guy devoured the mint - didn't seem to care for the flower though. Saturday night he went crazy over snake shed! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170...

Re: Topper for a 55g?
Lots of stuff happened this weekend with the new setup. Installed the false bottom Saturday morning after debating on whether or not I wanted to do one. I figured the risk of a flood weren't worth it. Added the first layer of sub Saturday afternoon (1 bag of sand and 1 EE brick.) Sunday morning I ad...

Also! My shop name is BeyondTheShell and I'm testing new blends all the time. (With cute names lol) strawberry kiwi didn't go over to well. But I'll be adding shells to my shop soon :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I thought I had seen someone mention it on here before when I was scrolling thr...
