Re: what do people think of this tank?
It looks bigger than a 10g to me, but I'm awful at guessing size. [emoji28] If it is a 10g, isn't that a bit expensive? Not sure about your area, but around here a brand new 10g from petco/petsmart is $15 or so... but that's without a lid, maybe he has extra stuff included. Sent from my iPhone using...

Thermostat & Timer
I use this one for my UTH on my corn snake tank and for my hermits. Not sure how it would work for a heat lamp? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0018CLYNG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1488058712&sr=8-1&keywords=reptile+thermostat As for the timers, I'd imagine you could probably find a normal timer for...

Need Help with Tank Setup - Am I Doing This Right???
Awesome questions and information! It's so nice seeing people taking the time to learn about these little guys. You seem like you have your bases covered! Also! I know that you were mentioning hermit crabs being more expensive than you thought, however *eventually* if you're worried about the temper...

Re: Color Enhancing Foods???
I know THCP sells a color enhancing blend, however I've never used it, so I can't really tell you how well it works.

Dry substrate
One thing that really helps keep tanks humid enough is making sure you have a proper lid. If you use a wire lid try taping plastic wrap over some of it to keep humidity in. Just using a mister in dry patches works well. Just make sure you don't most too much, especially if your hermits are burrowing...

Re: what do people think of this tank?
I have a 40g that I got for my corn snake during petco's dollar per gallon sale. I think they usually do them two or three times a year, and I would definitely recommend waiting or checking Craigslist, depending on when you need the tank. :) As for the lid, wire lids work well, and I always just put...

Re: Aussie Breeding Success Dec 2016/Jan2017
Wow! I've haven't been active in the community for probably seven or eight years now... just getting back into it. Last time I was active, I hadn't heard of anyone successfully breeding hermits. This is so cool! They're so adorable. Who else has bred them in captivity? Has there been a lot? It's so ...

Re: Hello!
I was so bummed when I tried to find land hermit crabs and the site was no longer there. Glad I found you guys though! Lady, I think it will be interesting to see what has changed. I'm slowly remembering everything - although I had to check the abbreviations thread because I couldn't remember if we ...

Haha oh my goodness, this is hilarious.
"I didn't know you have a hamster?"
"Oh, I don't. It's for my hermit crabs."
It's a really good idea though!!

Hello!
Hey, guys! I'm Kuda. I'm a dog groomer, and I have a border collie/heeler/pit bull? mix breed dog, and a corn snake. I used to be pretty active back around 2008 on Landhermitcrabs. I had an awesome 50g with about 25 PP's, 5 E's, and 3 strawberries. I had to rehome all my little guys after having to ...
