Re: Previous Tank Set Ups
Your crabitats are awesome! :D Just a couple questions, new to the site lol. Do the clay flower pot dishes (I can't remember what they're called lol) seem to work well as water containers? I was thinking about getting those instead of just plain tupperware, but I was scared the water would seep into...

Re: Floral Decor
Hello, I just had this debate with myself. As I am very new to crabbing myself, my experience is limited. Last summer I put some very pricey silk plants in for my new arrivals. They shredded them. To bits. Within hours. Yesterday I purchased some plastic vines. I know how shy and curious these guys...

Floral Decor
Dreaming about my future, beautiful crabitat... would cloth flowers be okay with the heat/humidity?? In addition to getting crababies this summer, I'm also redoing my room, and I'd like to make the crabitat decor match my room decor as well :D (if you're wondering, the colors will be carnation pink,...

Re: Stressed out, Moulting, or dead?
First and foremost, welcome to the HCA :) I personally don't have crabs of my own yet, but I've gathered lots of valuable info from this site so I'll try to help as best I can :) I answered as AP Okay so I got 3 hermits from the beach souvenir shops and then we drove 6.5 hours home. I was careful to...

Re: Hopeful Future Crab Owner, With Some Questions :)
Hi alypin, Just wanted to say, good for you for doing research first!!! :cheer: Read all you can on this forum, and research everything you can think of. Crab care sheets, postings, everything! Don't be like me starting out. I did everything backwards (i.e. buy the crab, then realize I was totally ...

Orange or Purple Instant Ocean?
In the process of making a hermie grocery list, should I use the "reef salt" Instant Ocean product? I've seen the purple brand mentioned a few times, but this orange one is at my local pet store: http://www.petsmart.com/fish/food-and-care/saltwater-aquarium-care/water-care/instant-ocean-reef-crystal...

Re: Hopeful Future Crab Owner, With Some Questions :)
Welcome the the HCA :butterfly:: I will tell you this...and it is very true...crabbing is addicting!! It is like having a saltwater fish tank. You will always wish that you had a bigger tank! So, I would recommend that you get the biggest that you can afford with your budget :) I agree with Daws ab...

Re: Hopeful Future Crab Owner, With Some Questions :)
Welcome to HCA! Have you tried CraigsList, LetGo, or OfferUp for used tanks? Search reptile, aquarium, terrarium, tank, etc... You can often find them with accessories and at a fraction of the cost. Remember, they don't have to hold water. Also, glass tops are better IMO. Sent from my HTC6515LVW us...

Re: Hopeful Future Crab Owner, With Some Questions :)
Hi! I wrote E for HeyItsEggs 1. After all the initial set-up of the tank and humidity and such, is it relatively little maintenance to keep crabs? I'm well aware of daily feeding and water changes and spot cleaning, but are there any other huge, regular tasks I should know of? I know that next year...

Hopeful Future Crab Owner, With Some Questions :)
Hi everyone :) I've been interested in hermies for quite a long time now, and I think at this point in my life I think I can finally invest in them, but I have a few questions to make sure this is the right pet for me :) Just to set the scene, I've wanted hermit crabs since about the 4th grade, when...
