How long could it take for my hermit to molt?

One of my hermit crabs Anakin has been molting for a little over 3 months now. Anakin is a medium sized hermit crab and has been through 2 successful molts with me so far. His first 2 molts took roughly 2 months or so to complete. I'm getting a little concerned because he's been down for longer this...

Re: Surface molt??

Update: About a week after I made this post Leia went completely stiff and has remained that way to this point. She is still under a hideaway too which is good. I've been misting the tank to keep the humidity up. When I checked on her today I noticed that her back is turning red. If I'm not mistaken...

Re: Surface molt??

Good news, Leia has started her molt and things seem to be going smooth so far! Since Leia is small sized and she is surface molting how long do you guys think it will take her? I know it varies from crab to crab but I just want a general time frame

Re: Surface molt??

Yes I did I put a pyramid hideaway over her. She's in a spot where she has total darkness now just like she would if she was buried. I'm going to leave her be from this point on. Now it's a matter of waiting it out. Thank you guys for your replies! I was truly nervous last night since I've never had...

Re: Surface molt??

I don't have time at the moment to fill out the template but I have done a bunch of research on the favorable tank conditions for hermit crabs I have met them all. I'll do a quick one 80-80 temp humidity 30 shells, 6 small to medium sized crabs in a 40g breeder. Yes I plan on upgrading tank size in ...

Surface molt??

My small sized crab Leia shocked me when I got home from work tonight. I have had Leia for a year now and she is yet to molt with me. Yes I have all of the optimum conditions in the tank etc. however Leia didn't seem to take interest in burying in the substrate. Leia was hanging almost completely ou...

Re: Molting please read this!!

Unfortunately I think it may be too late for yoda. All of his appendages are gone except for his back legs and I'm not sure what I saw last night. All that is in his shell is his pale abdomen and eyes which are glazed over. He was not moving whatsoever and I think yoda may have left us a long time a...

Re: Molting please read this!!

Update: managed to clean his shell off so he is not suffocating. A lot of his exo was in pieces where I found him and I put his shell where his exo is and did not put anything on top of him. I looked inside the shell and all that was there were his eyes and his main body without the appendages (legs...

Re: Molting please read this!!

Thank you for your response, I found him and he has some sand on him and I'm not sure what I should do at this point? Yoda is currently the only one in this 29g tank for everyone else is moved over to the 40g tank.

Molting please read this!!

Hey guys, I am a crab owner of 7 crabs and my large sized hermit crab named yoda went down for a molt in early December 2016. It has been 7 months and I thought for sure yoda was dead. I know I'm going to take a lot of heat for this but I am making this post to better inform you guys of my experienc...

Re: Molting- scared for my large sized hermit crab :(

Hey guys it's been a month later now, still no sign of yoda. Had a small crab go down for a molt at the end of April and he came up today so that was good news! Yoda is the only one left in the 29g tank as I have moved everyone over to a 40g breeder. Like aforementioned I haven't seen yoda since Dec...

Re: Decoration recommendations?

I saw a cork round at petco today but it was really pricy. I got them another nice artificial plant and another jungle vine. The plant looks fantastic and my crabitat is starting to look more and more natural

Decoration recommendations?

Hey guys I have a 40g breeder tank and was looking for some recommendations for decorating it. I have a fair amount of hiding spots and a few climbing vine plants. I'm looking for another climbing toy besides cholla wood. Have you guys found anything at PETCO or petsmart that your crabs love to clim...
