Re: Which way should a Ultratherm go on?
Umm, I made a guess.
I think it is with the copper side out, but I am waiting until tomorrow to put it on.

Which way should a Ultratherm go on?
My Ultratherm came in the mail today, and I am super excited to put it on! It should work a lot better than the heaters I have been using. I have a problem though- I have no idea which side is supposed to face toward the tank. Sorry, I know this is a weird question, but I honestly have no clue. Is i...

Re: Other animals in with isopods
Thanks for your help! I think I will just remove the centipedes as I find them; I have only seen one or two, so I don't think they are a huge threat. As for the worms, we'll see... I don't want to kill them, but finding a dead worm outside sounds really gross! Maybe my hermits will just have to do w...

Other animals in with isopods
Hello everyone! I started an isopod colony a few weeks ago, and it seems to be going well. There are a lot of babies in there, and the adults seem healthy. However, I must have brought in extra animals with the compost I used for substrate, because I now have baby earthworms and some centipedes in t...

Re: Moss from outside
I know it has not been treated with pesticides. I have no idea what kind of moss it is. How can I tell? I actually briefly moved it to her favorite place last night because I was putting in a new water dish, and she sat on it for a while. I am pretty sure she was eating it. Now it is mostly in a soa...

Moss from outside
Hello! I read the article on putting a moss pit in the crabitat and I added one to mine a few weeks ago when I emptied and cleaned the tank. I just collected some moss that was growing on my roof, dig a little indentation into the sand in the corner, and piled it in. My crab went in once, right afte...

Re: Mixed Sea Shells from Joann
Ok! Thanks! I was looking at the turbo shells, I just was not sure if they would be good quality; one review was five star and the other said that all the shells were broken into pieces.

Mixed Sea Shells from Joann
Hello! I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these shells from Joann: https://www.joann.com/gathered-mixed-sea-shells/14601603.html I am considering buying them, and I am wondering if my purple pinchers would actually wear them, and how many usable shells are in each package. :crabbi...

Re: Do crab apple shoots make good crabitat material?
Actually I know how to knit, so I tried to knit one. My crab seems to like it so far, but I think if I want to I can rip it out and remake it. Is crochet supposed to be better?

Re: Do crab apple shoots make good crabitat material?
Yes, they are small. I just tried to weave them together and it did not really work, so now I am thinking I will make a hammock out of twine and just put a few sticks in to climb on.

Re: Do crab apple shoots make good crabitat material?
Thank you! Do I need to wash it or anything? I know that it has not been treated with pesticides in the eight years that I have lived here.

Do crab apple shoots make good crabitat material?
Hi everyone! I just had a (maybe not so) great idea, and I wanted to get your input. The crab apple tree outside my house has all of these new shoots every spring that need to be pruned off, and I we thinking maybe I could weave a second layer/ hammock thing out of them for my crabitat. Does anyone ...
