Re: Made a big crabitat
Many home improvement stores have PVC pipe in its plumbing section. I believe many will also cut it to length for you. As far as the moss, I don't know whether peat moss is okay for the crabbies, but it does have very different properties from the rest of the mosses I'm familiar with. Also most sour...

Re: Made a big crabitat
Hey love the knitted hammock of sorts! It looks like it's a cut out part of an old sweater or some such? If you want, I can give you directions on how to keep the edges from fraying and unraveling. Remember a crabitat is a high-humidity environment- that thing's going to stink like a used towel with...

Re: won't shed painted shell
Garage sales will probably happen, but quite good to hear about the safety of the dechlor. That said, I don't have nearly enough pots and pans anyway as I have trouble getting a simple meal with a couple sides going. Lots of shopping reasons due to this forum. I was just wanting to see to what exten...

Re: won't shed painted shell
I have not tried to boil the shells. Any suggestions on things to do with that? Generally I keep everything to do with treated water (fresh or salt) very separate by type and from anything that goes to human use. I hesitate to put treated water in my very few pots and pans. Also, would it be prefera...

Re: I made a water thing
Hmm... I guess to me "built in" is synonymous with "in-ground". I suppose that is incorrect. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Meet Cheetah! And crab yet to be named
The sand is calcium sand for reptiles, I did a test off to the side and it didn't clump/harden when dried. The substrate is mostly EcoEarth though, about 4:1, and at the bottom it's pure EE (mixed it in the tank and didn't get all the way down). The sand's also something they've been eating a lot of...

Re: New Crab Owner
What kind of behavior are you seeing that you think he's being a bully?
If all else fails, multiple food dishes on opposite sides of the tank have appeared to work for some people on here.

I like the branches everywhere.
I actually didn't immediately see the camo crab... fits in quite nicely with your setup!

Re: I made a water thing
Why don't people just have a glass bowl or something like that for the "built in" pools? No seams to worry about, if it's pyrex it's rather sturdy, and you can just bury it most of the way for the in-ground effect. Is there something wrong with that method? Anyway, the pictured pools look gorgeous. ...

Re: New Petsmart finds!
I tried college. I finally figured out I had gone for all of the wrong reasons, and left. My first few jobs I was a babysitter and a waitress. I hated both, and particularly sucked at the latter. I decided to change, and went to a community college for Computer Aided Drafting and Design for a myriad...

Re: 30 G Tank - First Build
No problem :) I actually dug into the substrate a bit and made my water bowls in-ground. You can perhaps make the ramps and things get to the ground by having the bowls dug in halfway? I don't think you have a lost cause by any means. What other ideas do you have for the tank? Since your substrate i...

Broken images buddy, sorry. Make sure to go to your album, and click on the picture. On the right side, it'll have a bunch of things you can copy as links. The one to use here will be "BBCode" (Not the Linked BBCode). It includes the so you don't need to click the img button at the top of the post h...

I would measure it but she looks stressed for some reason and I didn't want to make it worse on her. Diglett's still underground. Perhaps she misses him?
