2 Crabs need home in NC
2 cc in NC. 14 years old at least. I adopted them from my daughter's friend and they molted every 2 months until they are the size of tennis balls now!!. They are at least 14 years old. I could not incorporate them into my existing crabitat, but I have had them for the last 4 years. They will come w...

Re: Picky hermie doesn't like any shells!
IDK... I just didn't like how he "spidered" all over them. And took off after them at a full run. I just got an aggressive vibe. Anyway... he re-shelled!!!! Finally!!! I actually put him in the new crabitat first since the ones in the 10gal were under. He re-shelled and although he is still the bigg...

Re: Picky hermie doesn't like any shells!
The funny part is there was no aggression in the kritter keeper. He didn't get cranky until the second I put them in the 10gal. My 38gal is coming along. I didn't buy enough sand yesterday, and today I bought the wrong kind. But, it should be ready to go tomorrow night. The problem is, now I think I...

Re: Trying to add substrate while crabs are buried
I added the rest of the bag and three have come up but not the 4th.... my most active. I've long suspected that she needed to molt. Did I finally provide the right conditions for her to molt.... or did I bury her alive?!!!

Re: Picky hermie doesn't like any shells!
I sat on the back porch last night with all of my shells and my husband's dremel and sanded down all of the openings. Just in case they were too rough for him. He didn't take any of the 3 that I put in with him last night. Although I can tell he checked them all out. He is driving me nuts!!!

Re: Picky hermie doesn't like any shells!
Just bought a 38 gallon... I'm going to move the other 4 into that one, and put the a-hole in the 10 gallon.

Re: Picky hermie doesn't like any shells!
He's pretty dark, so I'm guessing he's not going to molt anytime soon. And I don't think I can get the substrate deep enough in the kritter keeper. I'm going to have to buy him another aquarium, aren't I?
Such a diva!

Re: Trying to add substrate while crabs are buried
They came up through the additional substrate last night and reburied this morning. I just added the rest of the bag. I guess they'll make their way though that as well! <3

Re: How do you feed cuttle bone?
Thanks everyone! I've dusted it and broken it up, but they don't seem to touch it. I'm going to try the surf board method tonight!

How do you feed cuttle bone?
Do you grind it up? Break it pieces? Just stick the whole thing in there?

Trying to add substrate while crabs are buried
All 4 of my crabs apparently love to bury themselves. They come out during the night but I haven't seen all 4 out at the same time in at least a week. But, I have seen all 4 at some point, so I'm pretty sure they're not molting. I need to add substrate. Can I just add a cup or two at a time? They ba...

Re: Picky hermie doesn't like any shells!
Yes. I gave them all a bath in the same spring water with stress coat and dried him separately. I put them all back in the large aquarium and he took off after then others a fast run! He is my most active... I feel like I am breaking his spirit in this kritter keeper. I may just accept it and buy a ...

Re: Picky hermie doesn't like any shells!
Thank you for your reply! They're in a 10 gallon aquarium. I really don't want to put him back now because i have 2 missing that I'm assuming are molting and the other two are probably getting ready to. Since he seems aggressive, i don't want him in there with molters. I offered him 3 new shells las...
