Re: Hickory Leaves
Hickory leaves, bark and nuts are safe. I asked that in a fb group. My crabs love the bark! I get mine from someone who owns land and is 100% insecticide, herbicide and fungicide free. However, they are not on any list for safe or unsafe. I think some of those food lists should be updated. Sent from...

Re: Bully crab
I have a crab, Shell Jacker, that refused to get along with any other crabs. I moved him from tank to tank to see if he could be friends with different colonies. Nope! He's about the size of a golf ball, so I put him in the tank of big crabs. They are the size of oranges and bigger! He couldn't bull...

Re: Where in your house are your hermit crabs?
Our crabs are in the living room. That's where we spend most of our time. And we are always watching them. We like having them close

Re: Rescue Crabs and Molting
We recently rescued more crabbies. We use a separate tank and encourage eating and molting. They are separate so other crabs don't injure them while they are recovering. Then after they are mostly recovered, it may take months, but we add a small baby or two for friendship and watch the interaction....

Well said, Dragonfly. I agree with you the whole way. I couldn't have said it better myself. But yes, leave it to the mods. We all have opinions, but that's mine as well.

Re: Substrate mistake
Did you use dcfw or dcsw? I personally have more luck with SW.

Re: Shiny Shells Now Dull
All our crabs have dull shells. They were nice and "shiney" at first, but crabs dig and dig. They are very active and they are in the sturdy shells that they need. Their shells are for a purpose, not vanity to look pretty. We mix our 5:1 with dcsw and the pretty wears off fast, but the stability of ...

Re: Are corner guards still a thing?
We have them in one of our tanks. We drilled small holes in them to hang things on. They help fill the gaps that the kids don't cover.

Any paint is very toxic. We use egg crate, crafting mesh, cholla, cork, tension rods, natural jute, hemp and coconut. Nothing with fumes.
