Re: 90% positive I have a couple dead crabs during their mol
Thank you guys for the help. I've been wondering what you do for a while. The crusting you are seeing is probably due to the heat causing minerals in the tapwater and substrate to crystallize. It's the same stuff that forms in hot water heaters, and to a lesser extent on faucets. Are you using plays...

90% positive I have a couple dead crabs during their molt
So I have 6 small/medium crabs in my tank. Its 12"x 30" and I have a 10 gallon 2nd floor. The substrate is 6" deep. And consists of straight play sand. I have a salt water bath and freshwater bath that all crabs could submerge completely into if they wanted. The temp at sand level is usually around ...

Re: Semi-Noob here and still learning.
Well I cut the plexi with a saw. It wasn't the cleanest or straightest cut unfortunately. But I won't be able to find out Howe had has leaking until the crabs come back up.

Re: Substrate?
.... but no they don't drink from the bubbles, the bubbles are just used to provide a humidity boost Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk After reading this, I thought about how I've never seen any off my crabs get it into either of their water pools (each containing an air stone). I started to thi...

Re: Semi-Noob here and still learning.
I really like that tank you designed! Did you silicone the glass piece with the stone for the pools? I really love the container with stones on it! You might be a bit new to their care, but not to requirements! I will be keeping watch on this thread. Fanatic Thanks! Yes, pretty much everything I ma...

Re: Semi-Noob here and still learning.
Hello welcome. Water temperature should match the air temp, so its fine. They will be accustomed to similar levels in the wild. The only thing I'd like to ask if its plexi or not - may if missed it? Not ti rain on your parade, but plexi will eventually break apart on the silicone join as it dissolv...

Re: Semi-Noob here and still learning.
Ok, I'll switch the water around. No the box is gone. I was using it to represent the sand level. So I could see where everything would sit, before I put the sand in.
Thanks for the advice.

Semi-Noob here and still learning.
Hello everyone, I'm Jimmy. My wife bought a crab about 4 years ago, in Ocean City. I would've been against it, had I been there. I didn't think it was going to live very long, but it did. So I got it a bigger tank, some real substrate (instead of just a few peddles in a tiny wire cage), a hiding spo...
