Re: E getting ready to molt or just settling in?
Es are funny little guys!! I love them! They are my favorite crabs! I have 8 now. :) It sounds like your guy could be preparing for a molt, or could just be displaying normal crabby behavior. Es LOVE msw!!! :) I can't say I've really ever seen mine around the fw... Either way - congrats on your new...

Re: E getting ready to molt or just settling in?
I've never had an E before, only PPs, and haven't experienced a molt yet, so I can't be of much help here, sorry. Congratulations on your new additions, though! Would love to see them sometime! :) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180120/b1a816ae026c1f2cfe48fa3b6fd031cd.jpg Sent fro...

E getting ready to molt or just settling in?
I recently purchased a couple E’s. All of my crabbie experience has been with PP’s until recently. One of the E’s is spending lots of time eating (and making a huge mess of the food), drinking salt water, and picking at the cuttlebone. He came home with toenails, and hasn’t dug down at all that I’ve...

Re: questions from a newbie
For me the appeal is that it saves time. I don’t have to play with the sub when i change the water to get the pools back in place and i can have my oldest help.vampkat wrote:I saw the awesome pools, but I LOVE your idea of the double pools!

Re: questions from a newbie
Someone please correct me if I’m wrong but i believe the reason UTH goes above the sub is to heat the air. The water will warm up to the habitat temp even if the heat source isn’t directly next to it. If the UTH is under the sub line the sub will be very warm directly near it, and cool down to room ...

Food dish molter pic
So this crazy crab decided to molt halfway in the food dish. I was really nervous he wasn’t going to make it, but he seems to be doing well. He has been named foodie. ![Image](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180107/a74329589897465edbf6c5a7569a193a.jpg)

Re: Can E’s and PP’s live in the same habitat?
Oh thank goodness! I wasn’t looking forward to rearranging my living room to accomodate another large crab tank. We live in an older house. It seems like whoever built the house tried to strategically place the outlets in the most inconvenient places. Thank you all for your quick response and easing...

Can E’s and PP’s live in the same habitat?
I went to my local pet shop for some cat litter. And i came home with 2 E’s to add to my colony of 9 PP’s that are in a 75 gallon tank. The new E’s caught my son’s eye and that was that. I know i need to get different shells for them, and will order some online tomorrow. Am i crazy for trying to put...

Re: Surface molt!
I used the chopstick method. No stink, so I should be in the clear for a bacterial bloom. On another happy note my seriously crazy crab has eaten almost all of his old exo. He ate a little bit of banana, coconut oil, and freeze dried krill last night so i decided to let him out of isolation. He went...

Re: Surface molt!
I did dig up a whole corner in the deep end and it didn’t stink. I’ll check a few more places but if smell is the indicator i think I’m in the clear.

Re: Surface molt!
Woo, that is a weird place to choose for a surface molt. Things like this can happen sometimes, but if it were one of mine I would be seriously worried. Yes, they will sometimes choose to pull a fast one, but never in the open like that! It almost sounds like he put off molting so long he didn't ha...

Re: Surface molt!
Good news! Last night while i was taking the damp towel off i caught him eating his old exo! I’m taking that as a good sign after several days of no movement. ![cheer :cheer:](./images/smilies/cheer.gif)
