Re: Does this look normal? Shell-less crab
Well guess it's over. Harley never took the shell. There's a mild smell, same as when the dried shrimp were in there, but there's white mold all over his tail.

Re: Does this look normal? Shell-less crab
I did read that post. I'm hoping its just a surface molt. He did show pre-molt behavior before all this started. Waiting it out. I've had him the longest so I don't want to give up!

Re: Does this look normal? Shell-less crab
Idk. I think he's dead. 😭 He has not moved a bit, didn't grab onto the shell I put on him. I first noticed him naked Sunday night. I quarantined him Monday. I foolishly put dried shrimp in the bowl so of course Tuesday it was stinky so I got them all out. The same stink is still there this evening. ...

Re: Does this look normal? Shell-less crab
So Harley still hasn't taken a shell. He's in a container inside the tank. He won't move at all. How do you manually shell a crab that won't even flinch?

Re: Does this look normal? Shell-less crab
Negative on the submersion. They are only about 1/4 inch deep. Idk how to manually shell a crab, at all let alone without getting pinched. Also on the water bowl, what should I use? How can I ensure they can safely get out? I've used these water dishes almost 3 years now.

Doesn't it need ventilation? How long can he be in there?

Re: What to do with my crabbies?
Thank guys! I was so worried about leaving them. I feel better now. I have 2 of each fresh and salt water. They are large enough to not evap in a week, and not too deep to be unsafe. I don't have rocks, only a sea sponge. My humidity maintains very well. Thanks again for the advice!

What to do with my crabbies?
I'm going on vacation for 8-9 days. 2 of my crabs have been down for about 2 weeks now. (It is possible they are coming out at night. Idk.) Those 2 have molted successfully in the past 3 months. Should I find them and take them with me in their little plastic cages, or will they be ok while I'm gone...

Re: Moving Question
I'll admit 1st I'm not an expert. I've only had crabs since June 2017. I recently moved almost 900 miles. I had 1 crab up and 2 that had been down for about a month. We, as carefully as possible, carried the 50 gal tank, put it in the back of our SUV, and drove 2 days to our new home. I checked the ...

Re: New crab burried w/o shell
I found Sandy! ...in a shell; no signs of molting at all. I nearly broke a sweat I was so nervous while I was searching. I feel stupid for not knowing and horrible for bringin Sandy up. Now that I think back, it was a shell I never intended to be in the tank because it was kinda small, but my daught...
