Keeping ramp secure

I'm going to be making 2 small pools. I have painting trays. I also have plastic canvas. I know I can attach the canvas on top of the ramp using zip ties. But how would I secure the bottom of the ramp?

Re: Tank size

Because they are very delicate post moult... their new integument is soft and pale and will gradually harden up. Any dents in claws or twisted legs sustained at this point will harden into lasting deformities til the next moult. Significant deformities will have to be autotomised (dropped). Stressi...

Re: Molting?

I'd just leave him be. If you accidentally disrupt him he can become disfigured or if the sand collapses down on him he could suffocate. You don't really need to get 2 of everything. Just leave a small dish of water and a small dish of dry food for when he comes up. As long as the sub stays moist a...

Re: Molting?

Hello...wait a second...did I read that right? You moved the buried crab with his cave? If so, I would dig him up...more than likely his cave would have collapsed which would cause him to suffocate. If he is still alive...be prepared to isolate. Yes. :( At this point I'll just leave him. I'll set u...

Re: Trouble changing shell

If you have pp crabs, then yes. But...that doesn’t mean they like all of the shells with round openings [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk There are different openings since I got that bag from Michaels. I put them in a plastic container and he was in there last night. He was in looking at...

Re: What do your crabs enjoy?

my guys love banana it's one one the only things I feed almost nightly and it never goes unpinched. They like both green and overripe so it changes up through the week as they are still greenish on shopping day. Coconut is another fav. Once in a while I buy fresh and they eat the meat and fiber but...

Re: Molting?

It's important not to disturb them when they're molting. Sometimes they'll go under for so long you might be tempted to dig around for their remains. Don't do it! Just be patient, they'll show up eventually. Sometimes I think they just want to stress us out lol! [emoji38] Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G9...

Re: What do your crabs enjoy?

Popcorn is definitely my crabs' #1, no doubt about it. I offer it almost everyday because it's always gone in the morning. Honey and coconut oil are also quite popular. They like the flowers I offer them (roses and pansies) more than the leaves (birch). Finally, as far as protein goes, it's gotta b...

Re: What do your crabs enjoy?

mine go crazy over corn. freshly boiled corn kernels was the only food i've seen them carting off to their sleeping place so far. Blueberry loved corn bread. Strawberry loves pop corn. Little watermelon doesn't seem to care for either. Strawberry also likes Silver pomfret (cooked) and raw shrimp. B...

Re: Our first ponds.

It is a Galileo, it works good even though estimated, because I have under tank heaters. I was thinking something funny earlier. The wheel and all the fun things are for my crabs and their well being and quality life. I, love to watch just as much as I want them to have fun. Sent from my XT1030 usi...

Re: Daytime food

For some reason CrabMater's post made me think of this, and it's sort of relevant but not really related to your initial query. Fair warning - I'm an insect nerd: So also of note... there's less food cleanup if you add isopods (roly-polies/wood lice - a type of wee land crustacean that you've encou...

Re: Our first ponds.

I read something here once about someone trying to hook up a pedometer to their wheel to see if and how much the crabs were using it. Idk if the project ever became a reality but it's a great idea! Annnd someone else recently hooked up IR motion sensor cameras to see what their straws were really u...

Re: Poop

My crabs tend to leave most of their poop in the water pools or in neat little piles around the tat but I rarely see it out side of the water when I do I just scoop it out with a scallop shell. I have six crabs and don't see much poop at all but my daughters have two dwarf hamsters and I sware all ...
