Re: Poop
I have never bought the scoop -but have obtained a few through adoptions. I don't use them. They make a couple of different kinds. Yes, poop looks kind of like a brown stick. Maybe a 1/2 an inch long. A lot of us have isopods. They will help keep your crabitat clean by eating the poop, and any food...

Re: Trouble changing shell
I doubt that your hermit is stuck :) Did you boil the new shells before you put them in? I recommend boiling them in dechlorinated fw, and then dipping them in dechlorinated msw. :) Do you have the right kind of shells for them to change into? Here is the shell guide: http://hermitcrabassociation.c...

Trouble changing shell
I've only had these crabs about 2 months and they haven't changed shells yet. I have 3 crabbies. But last night it looked like one was checking out a new shell. He seemed to be "sitting" in the opening for a long time. And this morning he was doing that again and now is next to it holding onto it. I...

Poop
I find the scooper doesn't work well...at all...to scoop out debris. As if I could tell what hermit crab poop looks like. If I shake it a bit, like mining for gold, everything falls out. I'm guessing it was a waste of money.

Re: Correct heating method
Yw! I agree...this is a great crabbing community :) With these zoomed heaters, tape well too back and side above substrate. Got it. Should all zoomed heaters be toward one side? Cut out a hole in the reflectix so it won't cover the heaters? Will this help keep the heat in? Sent from my XT1030 using...

Molting?
My daughter's 2 crabs were is a store bought small plastic cage. Maybe less than an inch of sand. No salt water. Store food. For 3 months. I'm taking care of them now. First moved them into a 10 gal tank. After about a week one buried and hasn't come up. I have since moved them into a 15gal and with...

Re: Frustrated
Hi! :) What is most important is that they have places to dig down to molt. They do need places to walk around. To help with exercise, some of us use modified hamster wheels. I have three in my 100g, and 1 in each of my other three crabitats. I highly recommend them! Excellent exercise for the crab...
