Re: Frustrated

I'm still very new. I have 3 small crabbies in a 15 gal tank. But with all the accessories there's not much place for them to walk around. And I have no room to put in a pool. And I can't set up a bubbler for humidity, which I'm having a real problem maintaining. But...I can't move them into the 40...

Re: Best salt for crabs?

Hello :) Welcome to the HCA! :) A lot of us use Instant Ocean. Red Sea is good too :) Just make sure that it is marine salt for making saltwater fish tanks. :) Is this what you mean? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171022/a3668c696c1990ce090a80ad85a91672.jpg Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk...

Re: Dry Suggestions?

You can also search old food & water threads - try looking up "dry mix", "recipe", "home made mix"... that kind of thing. I use the Kilimanjaro Food Pyramid for inspiration when making up my own mixes. Also, a coffee grinder or mortar & pestle (you'll want it to be a crab food only k...

Re: Double-dish bubbler pics, yo!

Hopefully I'm not just repeating a better, pre-existent post, but I thought I'd throw up a quick referrence as to the visual how's of a bubbler system in a double container-pool. We recommend this all the time, but I've noticed it baffles newbies - unsurprisingly! (Sometimes I rush to post answers,...

Re: New crab owne

Thanks for link just one question I forgot last night, analog or digital for the hydro and thermo, I e always trusted analog over digital but there might be something better out there :). I use an older mercury thermometer/hydrometer because my room is at a constant 90% humidity thanks to turtle fi...

Re: lighting

Forgot to mention that hermits are not considered truly nocturnal. They're considered more crepuscular, which means they are most active at dawn and dusk. You can find them out and active during the day as well, they don't hole up in caves like a bat would. So with all of this said about uvb light,...

Re: Animal protein in crabby diets - chicken

I know I can feed them cooked chicken, unseasoned. But can I give then a piece of chicken from "inside", under the skin, where there aren't any seasonings. I can rinse it off if that would help. Or does it just have to be boiled chicken?

Re: Changing shells

Hi. I'm still new to all this. I have 3 crabs. 1 has been buried for a couple of weeks. I have no idea if he's moulting. I have a selection of 4 shells, I know I need to add more. I have them laying on the floor, not in a shop. It doesn't seem like the 2 that are out at night look at the shells at ...

Honey

I went to the health food store expecting to easily find raw honey. But what I find is different types of honey. Tupelo honey? Local honey? Does it matter? I bought the local honey but I don't know if I'll give it to them till I get replies here. I can return it if it's not opened.

Re: UNSAFE HIDE

I've seen ALOT of people using reptile logs as hides for your crabs, they may seem okay, but that wood is most likely cedar which is an irritant and could kill them. A good substitute that's cheap is a cocohut. You can also take tubberware, cover it with something so it isn't see through, and cut a...
