It should be a minimum of 6 inches across, then you can slope upward from there. By keeping one side low, you are depriving them of much needed molting space.

First time posting so hiii yall!! Afternoon, i have had hermit crabs for about 6 months now. I have a deep substrate, plenty of things for them to crawl in/on a temperature and humidity gauges in my tank. I have a huge 25+ gallon fish tank. I think i have done all that properly, however a few month...

They do hold bacteria. You can feed them dry natural sponge.

They're pretty picky. If they don't like something this week, they may like it in a couple of weeks. Always try food again.

I saw one of my crabs once, stuff food inside his shell for later.

How did you attach the egg crate to the tank wall?

The egg crate reaches the bottom so the sand holds it against the wall.

We always see our crabs up high in the tank Like that. We build walking ledges across the back with egg crate. I think we see our crabs up high in the tank more than on the substrate.

You can get plastic plants at the dollar store. And plastic containers for the pools. Make sure they have plenty of calcium and protein. Honey is a great energy food. And welcome!
