Re: Substrate question
I always get anxious about what's best for my little crabbies! I know that I need a bit more as we over-estimated how much 25 l bs would be!

Substrate question
Has anyone ever used this for their crabitat, mixed with coconut fiber? I just redid my 20g long with it and made sure it was a good consistency and mixed up well with the coconut fiber but I just wanted to see if anyone else had ever used this? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201221/3f12ae741954...

Re: Cool Article!
Mary is a member here. Not only does she raise baby hermit crabs, she also is a publish writer and runs her pottery shop on Etsy! I honestly don't know how she does everything she does. Several of us on here have some of her captive bred babies! Oh I know! That's why I was so excited that it was an...

Cool Article!
Look what just popped up on my Google newsfeed! I saw the title and immediately clicked on it and saw that it was about Mary! I may be a little bit behind the curve on this one but I wanted to share in case I wasn't! https://theoutline.com/post/8116/hermit-crabs-breeding-captivity?zd=1&zi=szuxnyml S...

Re: Is this the next size up?
I got some of the ones that you suggested, boiled them this morning, and I just put them in the tank and boom! Here's the compulsive shell shopper on them in literally 2 minutes! (Off in the bottom left corner. In the first one, you can actually see her but in the second one her head is all the way...

That type of green turbo has an odd opening shape and is terribly heavy compared to other species. Most PPs won't like them. If you order again, try fluctuosus turbos, sometimes sold as striped or Mexican. They can be polished or unpolished, but are much lighter and the crabs really love them! I go...

They will pick what they want! They may change pants a few times! Be patient and observe! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk Well, patience paid off and after 6 months and a molt, both Kaladin and Shallan have decided to have a go at the giant shells! They both fit way back into them but I guess t...

Re: My Humble Crabitat
Looks lovely! Almost anything is better than the pet store. The only thing is that you may want to make the substrate a little bit deeper. Love the name! How many do you have?

Anybody else have a crab with a sweet tooth that stocks treats in their shell?! I swear my large, female crab prefers sweet foods over savory and I literally just saw her tuck a treat into her shell! Lol! What a goofy girl!

Yes, she got a dip in the distilled water first. It appears that they have all made friends overnight though because I found them all cuddling together in the hide this morning!
