Looks like a tuff of hair they have to help them drink/etc. Completely normal.

Re: Leopard gecko
Thank you for the quick reply! They live in an old farmhouse that doesn’t have heat and depends on a wood stove to heat the house and it gets super cold, so I think any kind of pet would need heat in their house. I think I would like to get her leopard gecko for her since she was super interested in...

Leopard gecko
Hello all! My little cousin is dying for a pet, she’s really wanting some sort of reptile/something that can live in an aquarium/terrarium. We’ve ruled out hermit crabs. We have a few limitations though. Her parents are divorced. She normally spends the weekend away from her home, so it needs to be ...

Re: Upgrading!
I finally got a day off, so I’ve been up all night working on my tank. It’s not completely done, but I’m happy with how it’s turning out. I just plugged in my heater, so I’m waiting for the tank to heat up before moving my crabs. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190512/d007aba817a8b77d9613e4857351...

Re: Giving E's their own tank?
I’ve had Es mixed in with my PPs in a 75 gallon tank for over a year now and I haven’t had any problems. I keep my substrate at 11”-12” just because I’ve read at least 10” is recommended for Es.

Re: Crab only active if I dig him/her up?
Crabs becoming extremely active can be a sign of stress... I would stop digging up your crab immediately. Digging is never recommended unless you have a bacterial bloom or a flood. It shouldn’t be done because you want to tidy up a tank or because you want to see your crab be active. If you continue...

Re: Upgrading!
Thanks for the heads up! [emoji846] I have it layered with craft mesh as well. I saw this method used a lot in another group with good results and figured I would try it. Worse case scenario, I take it out if anything happens!

Re: Upgrading!
I finally got my false bottom in and siliconed, so hopefully next weekend I’ll be mixing up all my substrate and decorating! I’m dreading leaving my 75 gallon tank up while I wait for my 2 crabs to come up. Especially since my one E just went down a few days ago and usually takes a month or so every...

Upgrading!
So I’m picking up a 150 gallon tank this Saturday. I’m going to combine all the crabs from my 75 gallon and my 40 gallon and get rid of both of this tanks. I’m basically going all out on this tank because I want it to be the last one I ever have to set up. I’m building a false bottom, upgrading pool...

Re: Heating pad or heat lamp?
An under the tank heater is what is recommended. With hermit crabs, do not place the heater under the tank. Place it on the back of the tank above the substrate. You want to heat the air, not the sand. Heat lamps aren’t recommended because they zap the humidity. Crabs have modified gills and need hi...

I used the tortoise one. It’s all safe and the crabs love it. I’ve never seen the lizard one though!

Re: Hermies kitchen best all around foods?
She has mason jar meals that hit every aspect of the food pyramid and you get to choose the protein that goes into it! I bought one for when I’m busy and don’t have time to pick out food, I just give a scoop or two from the mason jar and know they’re covered for a night. I also like her half diet mi...
