aggressive towards molter
My biggest crab was disturbed while molting so i put him in an isolation tank and it’s been a while so i decided to put him back in the tank but when i put him back the other big ones immediately started attacking and sniped the tip of his leg off. I have no idea what to do. it’s been a while since ...

Discolored spot with pictures
I was misting my tank and I moved my crab Taika Waititi so he wouldn't be directly sprayed but I noticed a grayer spot on him. I haven't tried cleaning it or anything because I'm not sure if you should do that and I don't hold them or touch them. Here's a picture. I know the picture is really big, I...

Re: Temperature Problems
Hi! Your heat lamps are probably zapping the humidity. Do the heat mats you have cover the entire back of the tank? Also, what brand are they? I don't need to use an uth, but many people on here recommend Ultratherm mats. Apparently mats made by Zoo Med don't work very well. Did you ever think abou...

Re: Temperature Problems
I just got the fogger and I’m not sure how long to keep it on. I’ve mainly just been turning it off when the humidity gets high and keep it off until the humidity is too low. I turned it off before i went to work and when I came back the temperature didn’t rise at all. I also recently bought a highe...

Temperature Problems
I recently bought a fogger for my tank after constantly dealing with humidity issues but it seems that it's now cooling down the tank. I have a 40 gallon tank and have a heating lamp that constantly stays on, Its a night light, and I have two heating pads on the back. My family likes to keep the hou...

Re: problems heating
I just typed a response and was booted and had to log back in and lost it. GRRRRRRR. A few questions: What size are the heaters you purchased? What are the temperatures in the room and inside the tank? What type of lid do you have? What type of styrofoam are you using to Insulate? I am thinking you...

problems heating
I have two heating pads for my tank but the tank still remains cold. I started with one and stuck it to the side and they only stayed near it because it wasn't enough for the whole tank so I bought another one and put it on the back instead but i have a Styrofoam backing and not even that was warmin...

stressing crabs
Honestly I sucked at hermit crab care because I impulse bought them at the beach a year and a half ago and for a while i didn't have money to get proper stuff so they didn't have good humidity or temperature. SO basically my hermit crabs hate me but recently I got a job and spent over 500 on a new t...

Tank options
I've been saving money for a new tank and I'm looking at an Exo Terra Terrarium large it would be (36",18",12"). I'm wondering if this is a good tank for them or if there are any better ones. I have 4 hermit crabs 2 small, 1 medium, and 1 large. I want this one because it has doors that open up in t...

naked crab
I woke up this morning to my hermit crab being on the side of the glass. He was under the substrate and at first I thought nothing of it because they've dug there before, but when I looked closer he didn't have a shell on. I though he might be molting but don't they molt with their shells on? Also w...

Re: crab is naked???
How much smaller are said shells? Hermit crabs will sometimes switch to a smaller shell before molting to make it easier to dig. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I went to change the food and when I came back I saw him. He's definitely about to molt his eyes are all cloudy. I'm surprised to see h...

Re: crab is naked???
Digging isn’t an option. You could collapse tunnels or cause stress. Are there really no shells that the crab could have taken underground? All of them are accounted for? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I checked and there is no way he could have a shell unless it way too small and i had my frie...

crab is naked???
I'm gonna start by saying i think one of my crabs is buried and doesn't have a shell. So i have 4 and 2 are small while the other 2 are medium or larger. I didn't have enough shells for them because i could never find any and when i did buy some i over estimated the sizes. I had 3 shells for the sma...
