Purchased some new cholla wood for the crabs!

So, our 3 hermit crabs are currently housed in a 20g tank. It was looking a little empty so I ordered a nice piece of cholla wood online for them and just put it in the tank. It doesn't have much in it because I want them to have room to move. I feel like a 20g just isn't spacious enough. We have ha...

Just ordered new shells!

I just spent $30 on 2 shells for my son's hermit crabs... Those dumpster hermit crabs are growing like weeds... I say "dumpster" hermit crabs because... well... *WARNING: SAD STORY AHEAD* About 2 years ago my husband was at work when he saw someone sneaking around the back of the building. The guy d...

Re: Underground

They are both still underground. Definitely haven't passed away as there is no overly fishy smell. Its been awhile though, so my 4 y/o is starting to get impatient. He keeps asking me to get him another hermit crab... now I am seriously thinking about getting a 20g tank for Christmas as an upgrade s...

Underground

Both of our boys are underground now, went down about a week apart. Now I'm curious... do I keep changing food and water every day? Never had a tank with everyone molting at the same time before.

10g Hermit Crabitat Tour Video

My 4 year old was playing with modeling clay while I was making this video. He kept asking really great questions, so I left the conversation in the video and went with it instead of redoing the video.

Re: I cleaned up!

It looks great! I need to fidget with mine a bit to open up floor space as well, but my tank is much smaller than yours so it's a wee bit hard to do!

How did they even fit?

When my husband brought Baby Camouflage and Big Camouflage (Our 4 year old named them... Every Betta we have owned has been Charlie. Or, as he likes to say, that's Charlie's brother, his name is Charlie...) home 2 weeks ago, they were in the painted shells on the left. Now, they have moved into shel...

Just grabbing a quick bite...

Someone decided to sneak out real quick around lunch time to grab a quick bite... I'm not used to seeing the boys out during daylight hours.

To mix, or not to mix?

To mix, or not to mix? That is the question—Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of separated substrate, Or to take arms against a sea of hermit crabs, And, by mixing, end them? Currently my tank's substrate is separated, sand on one side and coconut fiber on the other. We...

Does this shell look too big?

http://i67.tinypic.com/2nscj29.jpg I know it's not the best pic, sorry. I am trying to figure out what size shells I should be getting. This guy has been swapping shells every single night, and they have been all different sizes. 5/8", 6/8", 7/8", 1". I have one of every size in the tank right now ...
