Re: Pre-Mixed Substrate from HCP
Yeah, and I can’t churn the sand either because I have a molter right up next to the glass. I have a book covering his “window”. He’s been there for almost 5 weeks now and I don’t want to collapse his cave. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I remember when we had 1 like that...I taped an old schoo...

Re: USA Today Hermit Crab Story
On the next Dr. Phil, "Crab Horders!" Lol! :hlol: Great article though! We have 5 in our 30 gallon but hoping to add maybe 1 or 2 more when we get the 55 gallon set up....depending on how much room we actually have after new decor lol. Right now the 30 gallon is crowded and a disaster. I also am co...

Re: Pre-Mixed Substrate from HCP
I have considered ordering a bag to make it even because my sand mix has settled and it’s under 4” in some places. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Mine is terrible along the back like that because they are always hiding in shallow holes there. My sand is VERY uneven these days because of all the...

Re: Fleming is worse - death is near - its so serious-
So very sorry for your loss......don’t blame yourself. We all make mistakes and crabs go through so much before they ever even get to us so even with perfect conditions many don’t survive long. It’s not like you did anything on purpose so don’t beat yourself up! We are all here for you...

Re: Moss pit question
I have a bath caddy with no lining, it dries out pretty quickly, maybe with the lining it will help keep the moisture. Rod used to sleep up there but she is down now, Salty has taken her spot and every now and then Squirt will sleep up there too. How often should I change the moss? I’ve been meanin...

Cuttlebone (found in the bird section) is awesome! Many put it in the substrate so it resembles a surfboard in the sand haha...I did this as well but have since given up doing that because somebody keeps pulling it out or knocking it over haha...my crabs have taken large chunks out of it at a time :...

Re: Post molting concern
I am not very experienced but I’d say it was normal. They use so much energy during a molt....hopefully someone with more knowledge replies soon but if it was me, I’d make sure calcium and proteins were available....I’d also give some organic honey (regular if u don’t have it right now) in a little ...

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181118/d6becf360311d3587d39f9bfa1abfbff.jpg I used craft mesh zip tied to make it easy for the crabs to get in and out for mine. (Haven’t been able to change the other pool yet because I have crabs under). As for the shells...I give them a good cleaning every week...

Welcome! You have come to the right place for all your crab needs haha! I agree with everything stated above....I have a few crabs down under also and it’s been well over a month. Just be patient and hopefully your crab will do it’s business and come back up soon!
