Is it okay if I have lit a candle in my room? Its not directly near my hermit crabs, but I do remember reading something about them being sensitive to smells. Will they be okay?

Silly Crabs
I don't know if I'm writing this in the right forum but ever since I put the my new crab Skids in the tank with Puddles, I think theyve become best friends. I caught them stacking on top of eachother the other day and I thought it was bad but apparently they do it out in the wild? They also climb on...

Re: Extreme Eating
Thank you for letting me know! I got worried that she might over-eat because of poor treatment at the pet store. And a side note, I caught Puddles and Skids "cuddling" this morning its adorable.

Extreme Eating
So I did a thing today and got a new hermit crab so Puddles would have a friend... This ones name is Skids. I got her (Will just refer to skids as a female for now) at petco today (poor baby :( ) and she is eating EXTREMELY. Shes just a small hermit crab, and the poor thing was probably starving. I ...

Re: Just kidding!
This is how big the hole is, and I only have a small 15 gallon tank (for now :) ) I think its so big because I had small cavein while she was molting but i digged it back out with a paint brush. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190118/916bcc7d662b510f892fec8a0c519c13.jpg Sent from my LM-X212(G) us...

Puddles not coming out?
I can see puddles under my tank, but she still has yet to come out? I know shes not coming out to eat or drink because I smoothed the sand on top to see if I could see her tracks... She's in her shell underground just chilling and there is no longer any exoskeleton for her to eat... Im kind of worri...

Re: First successful molt
No problem! Sadly my other crab bubbles passed away. So as soon as puddles is done molting and is strengthed enough I will get her some friends, which brings me to a question. Are hermit crabs territorial? Will I have to worry about Puddles attacking new crabs I put in there? Sent from my LM-X212(G)...

Re: First successful molt
Underground! The only reason I can see her is because she dug ALL the way down so I can see her under my tank. This was her a few days ago... I haven't gotten any recent pics because I dont wanna have the flash on and disturb her https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190103/f3e69815b3da5a4ab8cc1ad36a69...

First successful molt
I checked on puddles this morning, and it turns out what she was doing was pre molt and as soon as I made the tank darker she "shedded" her exoskeleton! Shes already made progress on eating it and I cant wait for her to come out!

Re: Almost finished molting?
Thank you for letting me know, about a week ago the tank started to smell a little bit so I took a small paintbrush to make sure she was okay and she moved a little, I stuck a little food out and it looks like it has been eaten off of a little bit so she might be finished and is recovering? I guess....
