Re: Where to find 29/30 Gal tanks for reasonable prices?
If you have some diy know how in you, you could just convert a muscle rack into a large plywood tank enclosure and just seal the entire inside with silicone water proofing when you're done. Muscle racks come in all shapes an sizes so there's bound to be one with the floorspace dimensions you want. A...

Re: My crabs never chirp
This is good. Chirping in my experience is usually a sign of distress or territory disputes.

Re: Crab Fight and Minor Injury
One Large PP, 1 Medium E, 1 small E, the other two pp are small and micro. The E is doing fine. Thinking the cause is protein deficiencies. Or my Jumbo is discovering cannibalism is a way of living too. Pic attached is the E in question curled slightly with the missing limb side apparent. https://up...

Crab Fight and Minor Injury
Not a big emergency since both parties were separated and appeased before any serious injuries occured. Summary my jumbo PP broke my medium E's left foreleg, the one that folds over the claw when it curls into. Only found out because the chirping woke me in the night. He dropped the broken leg on hi...

Do Hermit Crabs Need Holes In Transportation Containers?
Hi guys. I'm planning on moving soon and transporting the hermies with me. I was wondering if I could transport them in tupperwares, similar to the ones they give you at the pet store for frogs and such, but I was wondering if there is a need for air holes at all. Since they breathe the moisture in ...

Re: Hermies kitchen best all around foods?
I've been using the Aye Aye Captain mix and my E's and Pp seem to like it. The dried minnows in the mix are a little thick though so you might want to break that up a bit more when you serve it. The only down side is that it makes the tank smell like a crab died. Theoretically that might be why they...

Re: Are these filters beneficial at all or did I throw these together for nothing?
It's a little hard to make out, but what media does it have in there? Ideally you want something thats rather porous, such as lava rock - its cheap! - or a course grade sponge. This is where the majority of the bacteria will grow. While bacteria will grow in the filter wool, this is pretty much jus...

Are these filters beneficial at all or did I throw these together for nothing?
So I was looking for a way to cut down on having to do water changes as often as I need to (I am a very lazy, starving college student) and to put my mind at ease a bit about that last part on the Prime bottle's directions about the chlorine and chloramine being able to be "filtered out" by most filt...

Do Crabs Have Shell Fights Under Substrate?
Hi guys, to cover pre requisites I have a set of small PP and 2 E's in a 29 gal. 7 in Sub, and I keep the tank around 85-87deg and humidity just under 90. The E's like to dig a lot, but they haven't been aggressive towards the PPs in the time I have had them, and they've got a selection of around 16...

Re: The Cake siblings
1: Probably not. You've had them for a while now and they're both active. Big Cake probably just likes being nocturnal more. PP's seem to like sleeping inside cholla so it could be that she wants to rest inside the hollow of the wood, but she can't quite make it inside because of her size. 2: This i...
