Re: Aggressive Crab

Have you tried dipping them in fresh water to neutralize their scents? And how much protein do they get daily? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I did notice that Mr.Krabs took a did in the fresh water after the ordeal and when I woke up they are both sitting on the branch without conflict right n...

Aggressive Crab

I have 3 Purple Pinchers, 2 are medium-large (sorry I don't remember how exactly crabs are sized but they're not small) and the 3rd one is just a bit smaller but he's hiding in the substrate right now. Mr.Krabs being one of the larger ones was just standing on the end of a branch I have in their tan...

Re: Not molting, not dead, where is he?

Update: Sorry I haven't answered anything! It turned out that he was indeed molting, it appears he regenerated the missing chunk of his leg as well so I think that's what he was doing, everything is good [emoji106] Leonardo is just fine [emoji4]

Re: Not molting, not dead, where is he?

I wouldn't worry about him too much. I really think they like to just mess with us by hiding. Are you sure he isn't coming up at night to eat then hides again by morning? I have three purples that will hide or molt for two months at a time. They will be active a few weeks then go back to hiding. Th...

Not molting, not dead, where is he?

So I haven't seen Leonardo in a while and there is no sign of him coming up from under the substrate and I'm not sure why. He just molted and I don't smell anything so I know he's not dead but I feel like he might end up that way if he continues to stay under like this. It's been a couple weeks at l...

Jumpy crab?

I'm not sure if this fits here but I'm just wondering if my crabs will always be so scared of me? I feel terrible when I'm just trying to get out of my room to do something and it seems if Mr. Krabs even sees me moving in his general direction, no matter how I move he freaks out and either hides in ...

Re: Molting crab's shell was taken by other crab...

I'm not sure if he is molting anymore, but someone mentioned that he might have been attempting to molt above the substrate. I couldn't find any exoskeleton so I'm not sure...

Re: Molting crab's shell was taken by other crab...

Yes I just isolated him, someone also said to give him peanut butter? Is that ok to give them?

Re: Molting crab's shell was taken by other crab...

Ok correction! I got a closer look at Leonardo today and he is super pale and weak, he's even missing parts of his limbs, I am super worried about him now and I'm not sure what to do...
I added in the cuttlebone and threw in some more substrate today.

Re: Molting crab's shell was taken by other crab...

The tank is about 12" in height The substrate is the consistency of dirt almostand has soft, wood-like pieces. I think the fact that the previous owner had them for nine years may indicate that the substrate should be fine, I just need to add more. I'll have to buy more shells and get rid of most of...

He is currently behind the water bowl, above the substrate inside the shell

Re: Molting crab's shell was taken by other crab...

1. I am not sure what kind of substrate I have, it was given to me and I don't believe she told me, it's about 2-3 inches deep in most places, but I dug a whole out for the water bowls. 2. I have a gauge that mesures humitity and temperature that is located in the back and the temp is usually around...

Molting crab's shell was taken by other crab...

I noticed that the food bowl was being pushed up so I lifted it thinking a crab was trying to get out, but Mo was there checking out Leonardo de Pinci's shell (which I somehow didn't realize at the time). Leonardo de Pinci is currently molting and I saw part of him poking out of thw substrate when I...
