Well that's not good! Does washing the water tank, all the items, and all the exposed crabs, and removing all sand with hints of it clean it away?

They were definately floating, and kind of clearish. they looked like they were moving, too.

Whatever it is, I washed it out, replaced everything and cleaned every. single. freakin. thing. crisis averted!

So, I found some tiny white specks in my water dish today and I'm very confused. Are these eggs? Mites? Sand? They've never been there before, and I am quite confused!

Today was a normal day. Dad and I went to PetSmart for some cat food and for a wheel for my tank. I decided to check on the hermit crabs in the store, and lo and behold, there was a little guy (quarter-sized) fighting a giant (fist-sized) hermit crab! I realized I had enough money with me to adopt h...

And also, keep a bottlecap full of water under his mouth so he can just dip his head in if he needs it!

Keep food near him and if necessary hand feed him foods like honey and cuttlebone! Glad he's not dead!

Another tip from my marine biologist and hermit crab expert friend: keep feeding him high protein and high calcium foods to help him have the energy to regrow. Sorry to hear about the issue!

Yup, I've got 6 inches of substrate, 75 humidity and 75 degrees

She was digging into the substrate only a little and then staying there for days at a time (I checked for hermit crab tracks; she didn't move) so I made sure she hadn't begun the molting process and then moved her to an ISO.

As a bit of a precaution for the moment, keep some blankets on top of it.

In january, I got my tank and my two hermies. Almost immediately, Hermes, my bigger boy, decided to molt in the comfortable terrain!
