What are some recommendations?
You can substitute moss for a hermit crab safe plant, just purchase some worm droppings and plant. I know for sure The Hermit Crab Patch sells the droppings. There are other sources but I for sure know THCP and trust them a lot. You could plant chia seeds. Just know that plants don’t last long due t...

Re: WIP Decorations
It looks really nice. Just try and add things to climb on. Ye I was looking for rope at the Petco I was at. However they were doing renovations to add a pet clinic. So most of the reptile stock was missing. I do plan to add ropes and a basket. I don’t know what I’ll put in the basket but I’ll figur...

WIP Decorations
Im still working on decorating but still waiting on some things. I want to buy some more stuff to use the top space effectively but for now it’s definitely brighter and inviting! I got them a deeper water dish since a user recommended me getting a dish so they can soak if wanted. I utilized the prev...

So I wanna spice up my tank since it’s pretty bland at the moment. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190318/89ad2383fc3ea2a4eb1a9a1378ab7942.jpg I’m tossing the decorations away since they are pretty old. I ordered some more moopani wood and chola wood. However I would like to put fake plants in th...

Re: molting concern
^^ There also is that chance. However I would take the steps to make sure when your crab is ready to molt that he has the resources to do so. So make sure you got good sand/substrate depth with good consistency for tunneling, your giving him lots of good healthy foods (especially ones with calcium f...

Re: What kind of she’ll should I get?
Get the shells after you get your hermits. This will allow you to measure their existing shell and find good shell sizes to fit your needs.Oliviet#1 wrote:Does everyone buy the shells before or after they get the hermit crabs? And thank you.

Re: molting concern
Nah your crabs fine. The molting will actually benefit him in regenerating those missing limbs. If you don’t mind spending a few bucks I recently looked at this site called Hermie’s Kitchen and they have healing foods for $1-2 that are supposed to aid crabs with injuries or just new crabs. Re: Is this a good one?
I wouldn’t recommend getting the heater to put on top of the tank. My reason being is that the hermit crabs could dry out not being able to escape the heater if needed. What I recommend is either getting a simple heating pad from Walmart of Walgreens. If you get a thermostat and keep an eye on it yo...

My Hermit Crabs
So I'm pretty new here but I think its best to start with introducing my pet hermits. I currently have 3 hermit crabs which I have kept for about 2 years. My two hermit crabs I had bought I named Athens and Streaker, (my first two hermit crabs) and received them from a souvenir shop in South Padre, ...
