Recent Uptick in Aggression, Help me Figure Out Why
Hi, everyone! I have experienced a recent uptick in aggression among my crabs and am honestly at a loss as to why. I don't consider this an emergency as I have already taken (what I believe to be) the necessary steps to curb the immediate issue. Was just hoping for some extra sets of crabber eyes to...

Just my PP Eating
Between the crabs being nocturnal, the glass being dirty, and condensation being on the glass - I just never get photos of the crabs. Got a semi decent shot tonight of one of my nearly 2 year old PPs grabbing some nighttime grub & wanted to share. :) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201204/72e587e...

Re: Tank decor
The one thing I really want whenever I upgrade again & have more room is a wheel for them to walk on. :D I would probably add in more cork rounds and fake plants/vines as well. It's really no different than a smaller set-up, you just have room for MORE of the same. Hope your crabbies enjoy the...

Re: Crabs are not burying themselves at all
Hello, I am giving my responses/reactions to your post in bold. :) 1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? Eco Earth, Sand. 5-6 inches deep Substrate depth is very important. 6 inches is the minimum recommendation, would definitely advise taking an accurate measure of this...

Re: Cool veggies?
Do you cook the oatmeal? With water? Where exactly do you order from? I could be wrong, but I believe beckanai was referring to the Etsy store BioactiveFX1. They sell lots of powdered foods in tubes there. (Forgive me if I am wrong, beckanai!). You do not need to cook the oatmeal. My crabs love pla...

Re: Pure ecoearth for substrate?
Definitely not harmful. If I was going to estimate the ratio in my current set-up, it very well could be 5:1 - but with EcoEarth being the 5 parts and sand being 1 part. My only qualms with being primarily EE is that it does seem to dry out more quickly than the sand. And seems a bit more prone to m...

Re: Is a 29 Gallon Tank a good size for three hermies?
I have 3 PPs in a 29 gallon right now. All of mine are in shells between 3/4"-1" openings, so not particularly small crabs. It's more than enough room for now, but do imagine in a few years I'll need another upgrade for them. If yours are of similar size, I'd say it's a good size to work with.

Re: What to feed my hermits
Thanks so much, I guess its time to go to the pet store to ressuply :D Although you can find some suitable foods at a pet store (honestly think all I've ever gotten for the crabs from a pet store was dried mealworms), it will be somewhat slim pickings. You'll also have to read labels closely for un...

Re: what breed is she?
It's hard to say without a photo, but most often crabs from a pet store are PPs. They come in a wide range of purple shades. I would imagine that's what Coconut is.
