Re: Moving with an 8 hour trip
Hi guys, we started the 8 hour trip to our new destination around 8 days ago, and all the crabs are alive! Thank you to everyone for the tips and suggestions! A few days before we moved I put the three crabs who were above ground in the KK. I made them scrambled eggs with eggshells, and I didn't see...

Re: 8 hour trip?
well, three of them we got within a week ago, and two of them have probably been destressing (but still come out at night often), but there is one that has probably already molted that I think is molting. The school we are looking at doesn't start until September, so we might not move until then whi...

Re: 8 hour trip?
Technically yes, and to answer the questions in the mchat, There are 6 crabs in the tank all around the size of teeny and one or two might be going on to a small, My siblings like to keep the cool air on that the system says is (I think) 68, We have a 20 gallon tank that is probably at least 80 lbs,...

8 hour trip?
My family might be driving for around 8 hours that will require us to take the hermit crabs with us, and I’m not entirely sure how to take them with me. I was thinking about putting them each in a deli cup with EE and newspaper shreds (since I can’t use moss or hay), putting them all in the KK, or e...

Re: Crab in middle of Surface molting!
He should probably stay in the iso until its exoskeleton hardens. Some people also wait until their crab is like let me out! :) It is probably normal for it to curl up. It might be good if you put something over it like a cocohut or something because the like to be in the dark while they are molting...

Re: Crab in middle of Surface molting!
also if you put it back in the tank the other hermit crabs might want to try to eat it unless its exo is hardened.

Re: Crab in mmelting! Surface molting!
if you have a container (like an iso) you can put some substrate in it and then the crab with its exoskeleton. you can also put some food on caps like bee pollen, crushed egg shells, dried shrimp (I use omega 1), and a fatty food like organic extra virgin olive oil or an egg yolk. You should also pu...

Re: Crabitat tank journal
Have you wet the sand yet? That could be why the humidity is so low. I have seen people suggest slowly putting declorinated water in the coners. Maybe a cup at a time?(I'm not sure) you can also cover the top of the tank/lid with plexiglass, glass, or plastic wrap to help hold in the humidity.

Re: Dead crab?
OMG that's horrible! I wish there was a way to make the sale of hermit crabs illegal. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk Maybe instead of making it illegal maybe it would be better to have where they have better conditions and can’t dig them up. So the only ones for sale would be the ones that are...
