Re: My Girls in Their New Tank
Thanks for the compliments, everyone! They're selling in well on day 2. Well, Kino is. She found herself the best spot on top of the moss in the cork round. Teto managed to get herself stuck behind her house. I pulled it out a bit so she could move, even though she was probably fine, but she just cr...

Re: Hermit crabs staying in hut
I'm not an expert by far, but I think that mites that affect crabs would be visible on the crabs themselves, around soft spots like joints or eyes. If the crabs don't have any visible bugs on them I wouldn't bathe them. There are lots of little tiny critters that live in crab tanks that are complete...

Re: My Girls in Their New Tank
I do believe one is molting. He hasn't been seen for about a week and a half. The one "birdie" is the most active. He has been seen at like 2am climbing on the screen lid! And pinky and Nemo just chill in a slight hole they make. Rango is the one I'm pretty sure is molting. Sent from my SM-G955U us...

Re: My Girls in Their New Tank
I tried that. Never worked. But that doesn't mean it won't work for you. I think it took a few weeks for my guys to discover the wheel. Maybe less than a few. Maybe a couple of weeks. Darn, I thought I was being so smart, lol. I'll try it anyhow and see if they fall for it. Usually they can't let p...

Re: My Girls in Their New Tank
The temp stays around 76-82 (uth and heat lamp depending on the temp). The uth I have on the back spans about 2/3 of the tank from the top of the tank to just under the sub. It's a 20 gal long. The humidity stays around 85-95%, it varies if I turn the heat lamp on during the day. I have about 5-6 i...

Re: My Girls in Their New Tank
What is your temp? If it's on the lower side that may be why. Are your other conditions good? Substrate height, humidity... I second this. Even during the same day, if their tank is a few degrees cooler than I want it to be, I wrap a blanket around them and they seem to wake right up when the temp ...

Re: My Girls in Their New Tank
We got the first 3 at the end of July and the 4th around the end of August. I just wish they were more active so I could see what they do lol Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk That's still fairly recent. When I got my girls, Teto went down and molted within two days and I didn't see her again fo...

Re: My Girls in Their New Tank
That looks awesome! Quick question, how do so many people get these pics of active crabs?! Mine don't do anything. I even have a motion camera set up and all they do is come out to eat and then go back to hiding. I'm not even sure they have been using the pools I made them. Sent from my SM-G955U us...

My Girls in Their New Tank
Kino and Teto are enjoying their new tank. Took me all weekend to get them set up and moved over. Still a couple tweaks that need to be made, but they don't seem to care. :) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190929/fda2e2ada5c5a93195ea4b7a1f1bd2fb.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190929/15983...

Re: Glass Lid Not Fitting
Yeah, exactly. There is a 3/4" gap front to back. bought the lid online and really don't feel like going through the trouble of returning it and changing on another incorrect fit, anyhow. Corner guards is a good idea! I will take a look at Home Depot next weekend when we go. I'm sure they'd have pla...

Glass Lid Not Fitting
I'm putting together a new 29 gallon tank for my two girls. I got an Aqueon brand tank which is 30x12, and bought an Aqueon hinged glass lid advertised to fit their 30x12 29 gallon tanks. It doesn't fit. :/ It's about 3/4" too narrow. What would be the best way to fix this to keep the humidity in an...

Re: Maybe a dumb question
I like your tank set up so far! I'm also going to be finishing up my girls' new 29 gallon tank and moving them this weekend. :) Good idea using the jute to connect the mesh instead of zip ties... I'm going to do that when I make their new shell shop. On the water dishes, I did buy four Tupperware co...

Tiny Tiny Mites
I just noticed these extremely tiny white round bugs crawling on the glass of my tank today while I was recording Kino. I am paranoid about mites and regularly scrutinize by crabbies' eyes and joints to make sure they're are no white spots on them. Nothing on the crabs, only on the glass. Can I assu...
