Installing UVB
I’ve got a 40 gallon tank (91cm long x 38cm deep x 45cm high) with 6 inches substrate. I’m currently using the glass lids supplied with the tank, but have some plexiglass available. I’d like to add a light source, hopefully UVB. Would one of these CFL bulbs in a fitting attached though a hole cut ou...

Re: Calibrating hygrometer
Thanks. I think it just took a bit longer (10-12 hours). The Bunnings cheap-o digital kit appears to be within 2% which is pretty good for $20!

Calibrating hygrometer
It's winter where we live and the relative humidity is 75-90% (reported by weather departments). I'm calibrating a digital thermometer/hygrometer with salt in a zip bag. Will air humidity drop down to 75% with starting air humidity higher than this? I've got half cup salt that is wet to soggy consis...

Re: Advice on Australian crabs
A little crazy? Surely not!
We will be assembling over the weekend, and I suspect making return trips to Red Dot and K-Mart for kitchen storage supplies.
Now I’m researching exercise wheels. Safe to say, this is out of control.

Re: Advice on Australian crabs
Thanks! I’ve done the first Bunnings run for sand, peat, moss, gutter guard mesh, cable ties. The links were helpful. Next on the list is shower caddies, shell basket, shells and plants. Also ordered a UTH from eBay. Hopefully it arrives undamaged from NSW. I’m not sure how they ship at that price w...

Re: Advice on Australian crabs
Looking forward to a good Brunnings shop at Bunnings, and hopefully a sausage sizzle.
Thanks for the links!

Re: Advice on Australian crabs
That's terrific. We posted at the same time and you answered my question! I'll order a couple of heat pads 20 watt pads for along the back and go from there.

Re: Advice on Australian crabs
Thank-you! This is brilliant. The plan is we are going to look at the 50 gallon tank today. I'm on e-Bay looking at heat mats. Are there any styles or specifications to look for that would indicate they can or can't be used with insulation? There's a lot of sellers offering the same style with note ...

Advice on Australian crabs
Hello. We are looking to get some hermit crabs. We are in Australia. I've been reading the care sheets. These are great, and thank-you for making these available. I have a few questions and appreciate any advice or feedback. 1. Are the recommendations for space, temperature and humidity applicable f...
