Re: What species is this guy? + need help with caring for brevimanus

Yes! A Ruggie. Indos haven't been available for years now, and such a large percentage die within the first 2 to 4 years that I'm not even sure who still has any. wolfnipplechips was the last I knew of, but I'm honestly not sure if she still has hers. Thanks for the help with IDing! Shame about the...

What species is this guy? + need help with caring for brevimanus

As per title, would really appreciate if someone could help me with IDing this guy, though I highly suspect he's a ruggie. Also, I could use some advice on my sole brevimanus crab - since IDing him somewhen in August last year, he has literally doubled in size from being a small cutie to an absolute...

Re: Hermit crab eating pumice?

I have no clue either. I don't think he's eating it out of a calcium defiency either, I include calcium powder and eggshells in their diet.

Re: New hermit crab! What species is he?

Actually, I'm in Singapore- and the only hermits allowed to be kept here are Coenobita Rugosus. However, when I picked him up, I noted that the shape of the pupils were different, which led me to think that he might not be the same species as the others.

Re: New hermit crab! What species is he?

That is a bit worrisome, as I have a few ruggies and I know that in the wild, brevimanus prey on ruggies. He seems a tad small for his species though!

Hermit crab eating pumice?

I have quite a large rounded pumice rock that I've placed in my hermit crab tank for them to climb on (figured that the porous surface would make it suitable to climb on). It has been in my tank for a few months now. However, today I noticed one of my hermit crabs breaking off small chunks of pumice...
