Re: Shell grit
Hi, if you're after calcium you can sprinkle around crushed eggshells, lobster shells, crabs shells... they like to forage too, like in the wild. You can also buy cuttlebones in the bird section of the pet store, just stick it in the sand. Not sure if this was mentioned to you or not.

Re: Powdered Fruits
True, we only have the 4 crabs so the food does go pretty far. Yes, it is definitely nice to supplement food groups that we don't have on hand.

Shell-tering
Thanks for posting all this info. I want to try it too. I have to say I was pretty shocked at some of the prices for tiny packets of food. Or rather surprised at the tiny size of the packets. I love the dry food though, molds slower and less waste. Really, thanks for posting!

Re: Flood??
It's been 5 weeks since my flood and the girl I put in ISO came up today!!! Healthy and hungry! I moved her into the new tank as there is not much room in her iso and 2 of the other 3 crabs are molting. A few things to note: Periodically, check your substrate with a chopstick or knife down the side ...

Re: Does this look normal? Shell-less crab
I don't want to give false hope but, He might be having a surface molt, in that case they look dead. I'm guessing you read the 2nd post under emergency..." never assume a limp crab is dead"? It is a distinct STRONG smell. Like a dead fish at the beach. Sadly, we bought two at a beach shop and one di...

Re: Does this look normal? Shell-less crab
Did you rinse the shells in salt water? That helps, think of shells washed up on the beach by ocean. On the Emergency board there are several posts below yours addressing naked crabs and what to do. I have never had to do it, so I can't really say. Hopefully something there helps.

Re: Does this look normal? Shell-less crab
I hear you lol. Put everything in first . Put container near him so you can do it quick. Just gently pick him up. Or scoop under him with a spoon or something. You can put holes in if you want first.
