Re: Weird Crab Dreams!
I had the snake (that i don’t own) escaping the tank dream and my room turned into a mini rainforest with dragonflies and trees. Stemmed from seeing two of my crabs attempting to open the lid lol They were actually lil physicists about it. First the little one crawled up my reinforced fountain wire ...

Re: Websites that humanely ship hermit crabs?
If you fill out the application and pass the approval process Mary Akers will ship captive bred baby hermits. She has had success sending them all over the US next day shipping last year. Shipping hermits is always a tough call on how safe it is. During late spring through the early fall months is ...

Yeah it’s not the shortest drive, but I bet the crabs will be ok with a quick spray before and extra blankets. Be wary of tunnels collapsing which could pose a threat to them if they’re molting.

Re: Moving from Illinois to North Carolina. I am not sure how to safely transport my crabs!
Hey guys! I'm new to the forum; however, I've been a crab mommy for about a year and a half now. I currently live in North Carolina and unfortunately, I had to leave my crabs in the care of my in-laws until we got a bigger place. That time is about to come up and the in-laws are going to be driving...

Re: Just bought a 75 gallon!
300 would be 6 bags. That doesn’t sound like enough. ??? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 6 should be right on the money (ish). But you should totally add a couple bricks of EE as well to add a bit more depth while you have the chance. It’d be a royal pain to add/mix later on if you change your m...

Re: Just bought a 75 gallon!
Do you have the online calculator website? I'm going to be upgrading to a 55 gallon tank and need to know how many 50 lb bags of sand I'll need. Thanks! Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk I upgraded to a 55 as well. It should be about 4 bags of 50lb playsand for 6 inches straight up. I thi...

Re: Websites with Good Shells :) Concerns about my lid!!
Certain dollar stores sell super cheap bags of shells with a few usable green turbos. I got the rest of mine from Naples Seashell Company @ around $1-2 per shell and $6.75 shipping - they responded quickly when I wanted to add to an order I had recently placed and got me taken care of

I’ll just list a few random things: Kaytee silent spinner hamster wheel (super happy with the 6.5”) Motion sensor cam Clear window birdfeeder Reptile hammock Small fountain (kind of a hassle to clean the pump etc monthly but it’ll raise humidity a ton - anyone know of a safe easier solution to negat...

Re: Hands-off or hands-on? I'd like to bring a thought to the table
I’ve heard some can be taught to associate handling with being fed, resulting in trust and a stronger bond. My impression is if you try it, never force it on them. Start slow and let them come to ur outstretched spoon if they choose to (I got a free mini wooden spoon/shovel from hermies kitchen and ...

Re: Green sand
Where does everyone buy their green sand? I have bought small baggies with my dried food, but would like to have a larger supply so I can leave a dish of it in the tank for the crabs to munch on. I tried a couple of pet stores in my nearest city, but they didn't have any. I will be in the US next w...

Re: Where do you place your shells?
Always thought the same, so have never tested more than 1 layer of shells myself. I leave some scattered on the substrate and a layer in the shop/mosspit, trying to group similar sizes together.
