Could My Crabs Have Died Molting from Anaerobic Bacteria?
Hi everyone, it has been a long time since I have been to the hermitcrabassociation forums! School has been very busy for me this last year or so. Nonetheless, I do have a inquiry, might is be possible that my crabs are deceased? I've had my 3, *medium-ish* crabs for nearly a year now, and I've se...

Re: Chirping
From my experience, I think the chirping is normal occasionally. I rarely have heard the crabs chirping, and when I went to investigate my crabs were just sitting in the corner. They didn't seem in harm or anything, so I have to say that I believe it's normal sometimes. Sent from my G8142 using Tapa...

Interesting! I suppose those sound like evolutionarily stable strategies. It could also explain the missing edamame beans too! Thanks for your responses everyone! I hope they don't bury too much food otherwise it would spoil and smell, not to mention the growth of bacteria! Sent from my G8142 using ...

Is It Normal for Crabs to Grab Food From the Dish, and Hide in the Corner Eating It?
Hello everyone! It has been a while since I have Ben here, school and life has been busy, such as some personal breakups. School has also been a bit of a struggle to deal with, along with time management. My question to ask for today, is on the title. My story behind this is that, earlier today, I w...

Re: Digging holes?
I guess he’s just finally getting comfortable. Sparkys the only one who doesn’t run away when he sees me, the only one I ever see out during the day period. It’s a new thing, he’s never done this before so I figured I would ask. I was concerned only bc my biggest, Kirby, has made himself a nice hom...

Re: Which foods last longer in the tank and how long would they keep (ish)?
I don't have too many foods that I can supply for my crabs, other than just fruits and vegetables, but I do know that apparently cuttlebone last a long time in my tank, as long as you keep it away from the main food source where I can get soggy and or moldy. I think that crickets and mealworms could...

Re: COCUNUT CRAB DOCUMENTARY
Oh yeah, definitely! If I recall correctly, coconut crabs actually are similar to hermit crabs in that they will use shells when they're younger, and once they grow to a certain size, they grow hard exoskeletons because it is hard to find larger shells.

Oh, I'm response to the question I use the recommendation amount of Instant Ocean, which is 1 cup / 2 gallons I believe. Or, something like that. I use reverse osmosis Water for my fresh and salt water mixes.

Re: How Does Everyone Clean Their Food/Water Dishes? + Is Cloudy Water Normal?
Thanks for all inside everyone! I want to ask that question out of curiosity because I was a bit concerned about how I should be cleaning my food and water dishes, and if I was doing it in a safe and efficient way. I also clean up using tap water, I empty the contents of my water bowls and the food ...
