Condensation
Hi all, any advice on reducing conservation? I am getting a lot of it on the suran wrap that is on the mesh lid. The sides where me uth are don't condense but the rest of the lid does. I only have insulation (cut up car sun shield) on the back and right side with heaters. Should I insulate the other...

Classroom crab update and pics!
So you might remember that I'm a teacher but due it's for the school closing I had to bring them home, even digging up a molter. Everything turned out fine and he was in 10 gallon isolation, the other 2 in a 15 gal. Well once I put them together I felt that 15 gallon wasn't enough room, but I also d...

Re: Digging up a molter due to school closing
2nd update and a new question. So since yesterday I've been hearing him move around a little bit in the tank, this afternoon when I peeked in the tank he had found himself a new shell and was moving around. I went ahead and put in a variety of food and he was sitting in the food dish a while ago LOL...

Re: Digging up a molter due to school closing
Update: I got the isolation tank all ready. Started with a trench on the shallow side where I didn't think the crab would be. Got about 4 inches to the left and found his shell in a cave. He was tucked into his shell, right next to him were the remains of his exo. He did not move. There was about 2 ...

Re: Digging up a molter due to school closing
The one and only time I had to dig up a crab was when I had a flood. I was so stressed and anxious about it - even though I knew I needed to do it to possibly save her life. I had to come on the forum to get some moral support and good vibes so I had the courage to actually do it. I will be sending...

Re: Digging up a molter due to school closing
Hello, hopefully everything will work out for you. It sounds like you have a good grasp on crab care! I believe I would do the same thing and prepare to dig and transport him home since you are unsure of the time frame. It's a difficult decision to make, but due to the "unforeseen circumstances" I ...

Re: Digging up a molter due to school closing
You posted on FB earlier? I'm Rachel, and gave the advice to dig in the event of an emergency. You'll be fine! I think he will be, too. I know we say to never do it, but this is the kind of situation where you have no other choice. I would suggest for the digging, to start at one end of the tank an...

First successful molt =)
I have only had hermit crabs since middle of November I believe. One of my 3 went down around Dec 20th and just came back up today! (he wasn't coming up at night even). Over Christmas I moved the other 2 into a bigger tank and was just waiting on this guy to come up to move him too. So he's in a tan...

Re: Powdered Fruits
That's amazing! Maybe I need a dehydrator [emoji16]
Also- I ordered some apple powder from a store and it says "add water" does anyone add water to powdered fruit? Or feed it without adding water?
