Re: Cinnamon brooms?
We don’t really know how hermit crabs are affected by cinnamon. Whether or not it’s safe to eat is still an active debate. I personally doubt it’d be harmful, but if you do hang it in your room I’d monitor the crabs for the first few days for changes in behavior to make sure it’s not irritating the...

Cinnamon brooms?
My dad recently got a couple of those little cinnamon brooms (they might be called cinnamon whisks?) and I’m wondering if I can put one in my room where the crabs are. I know the general rule of thumb is to avoid fragrances of any kind since they usually aren’t good for the crabs, but I thought I mi...

Okay, thank you so much!curlysister wrote:Yes, I would take fresh fruits out of the tank, and crack a little corner open if you can do so and keep your humidity up.

Re: How to get rid of fruit flies
I often get fruit flies in my kitchen in summer. I take a one or two cup jar, fill it about a third of the way with cider vinegar, and add a drop of dish soap. Then put saran wrap over the top, and poke a couple of small holes in it so the flies can get it. I would place it outside the tank, but cl...

How to get rid of fruit flies
Hi again! I made a post trying to ID some bugs in the crabitat earlier today, and it turns out that they’re fruit flies, which i’ve never even seen before in real life, let alone found in the crabitat before a little while ago. Does anyone know how I would go about getting rid of these flies?? I saw...

Orange/Tan flying bugs?!
I just found three or four flying orangeish tan bugs in the crabitat?! I had found one like a couple weeks ago but i thought it just got in from the house. If this is an infestation i cant keep them anymore, I’ve never seen this kind of bug before and it’s freaking me out lol. I’ll try and get a pic...

Re: Microgreens
Microgreens aren’t a special variety, they’re just regular vegetables harvested right after sprouting. They’ll grow into full-size plants with time and care. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Oh, I didn’t know that! That’s cool! I might try and grow some actual full-size plants from the kit too, l...

Re: Microgreens
I have never grown my own microgreens from a kit. I have picked different varieties from local organic farms. The crabs seemed to enjoy them. I would say as long as the food as listed as safe it shouldn't matter if it is micro or not. I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to most foods...

Microgreens
Hi everyone! I went to Target today and picked up a little growing kit for microgreens, which I’ve never heard of before! All three types of seeds included are safe for crabs (radish, kohlrabi, cabbage) but I’m not sure if it matters that they’re microgreens and not the normal vegetables?? On the bo...

Hole in Shell
Hey folks—I just got back from a 10 hour trip to my new tank decorations and supplies - including the shells - delivered. When I opened up the package of shells, I realized that one of the shells-one that would be a perfect size for one of my crabs in need of a shell- had a hole in it. Is it still o...

Does anyone know if green onions are safe? I couldn’t find them on the lists.

Re: Tank Upgrade Recommendations
Update: Getting a tank tomorrow that’s 4 ft long, 30cm deep and 45 cm high, how many crabs do you think would fit in that?? It’s 60 gal, I’m thinking 5-6 in total (I have 3 right now) but correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t plan on buying more, I think I’ll wait until some near me need re-homing. Just...

35 gallon tank
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200614/bb27e85447b70dbb7d5105bd5a5b5172.jpg Finally bought and built the stand, it’s from ikea, and 47.5 inches wide, so even bigger than I needed! The weight limit said only like 70 lbs, but I sat on it and I’m around 150, so I‘m sure it’ll be okay! I’m going to ...
