Shell Swap!
After wearing a shell that was rather abit too large for her, Tukiyo quickly swapped back into her old shell, which was Odin's original shell I first got him in two years ago! ( crab in the background! ) look at her goooo https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipNoAvuI2Vu0gW-MGLSLXNT1TekcHh3IXTYtjKFw9a...

Re: Missing Crab, 48 hours gone almost
Sadly it was already been 72+ hours since I found their shell, and for basically a day and a half I tried putting out a moist hide and food, ranging from coconut chunks and dried shrimp, and even an entire piece of sliced ham. It didn't worked, also, I found the shell tucked into the corner of one o...

Re: Missing Crab, 48 hours gone almost
No, I found his shell outside the tank, directly under my desk by one of the outlet strips that I have my computer by; I found their shell ( don't know the gender due to how tiny they was, so I went with shinobu, the japanese gender neutral name for endurance! ) but no body. I haven't found any body...

Re: Missing Crab, 48 hours gone almost
Hi everyone. Thanks for those who's read this post- I just found shinobu's shell tonight but I did not find them with it. I presumed them to be deceased and to those who are aware of my other crab Iwao who passed away due to this mysterious circumstances last late may, I buried Shinobu near them und...

Re: VERY lethargic crab, no longer moving.
I would like some more clarification on how you're reading the temperature in your tank, you say you have something on the ''bottom''- do you have one of those temperature gauges where you have to stick a wire in the tank? Also the fact you don't have a heat source in the tank makes me concerned, yo...

Missing Crab, 48 hours gone almost
It's been 24+ hours since my smallest crab Shinobu went missing. The other day at roughly 1-2am I was up very shortly and decided to clean around the tank before I heard a solid object hitting on the floor, I was tired and just assumed it was a spare shell I had out and I'd find it in the morning. N...

Molt Sac? Is he getting ready to molt?
My largest crab odin I believe is showing molting signs again, he's digging around ( but covering himself ) and I saw him change shells yesterday I believe I saw a molt sac, it was a large blackish bulge at the very front of his tail, but under him to the point where I couldn't see it- I'm not sure ...

Bioactive substrate
I've been interested in the idea of trying to do a bioactive substrate ( 30 gallon ) and I've been thinking of introducing an Asiatic lilly and seeing if it could take root
Would it be safe?

Thoughts: Carolina Reapers / Ghost Peppers?
I personally haven't done this nor do I plan to, but this really got me thinking- HCs of course have different tastebuds, but could they receive spice from foods? Has anyone tried offering these peppers to them with ( potentially ) good results? And to those who don't know, the Carolina reaper is on...

Re: Coral Has Eggs
It seems like she probably ended up rubbing them off somewhere or they just fell out on there own, and the other crabs ate them. That seems to be a common thing with eggs in captivity.
But regardless, if you was able to get eggs in captivity that's a sign you're doing things right.

Re: Hikari Crab Cuisine?
Replying to Joe, I could see think link that's made from shrimp and CS to Hermits. Hermits ultimately after all from my understanding, more related to shrimps and crayfish then to actual crabs. It's probably safe to think that CS is only harmful to hermits when it's ingested for consistently for lon...

Re: Hikari Crab Cuisine?
I think a part with the bashing on Hikari is that people in general will always have strong opinions against ANYTHING that's popular. Sure, no one is perfect with their products, but I think that can be said about any company no matter the quality. Hikari it's self has been around for more then 100 ...

Re: Species/Gender ID
They're an E! Also, we need a clearer picture of the bottom last set of legs. If there's two dots it's a female, if they're absent it's a male- it's not a clear enough or close enough picture for me to tell.

The care sheets are abit subjective however and can be a case-by-case basis. I keep 4 crabs in my 30 gallon. As long as you can meet 6 inches of substrate then a 20 gallon long would fine.
