Re: Tank Upgrade Recommendations
I’m not an expert, as I’ve only ever had 3 crabs at once, but I think 5 or 6 small/medium crabs would fit pretty well in a 60-gallon! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yeah i thought that, I'm very excited to set it all up but i want to take my time to properly understand what they need and make s...

Re: Tank Upgrade Recommendations
Update: Getting a tank tomorrow that’s 4 ft long, 30cm deep and 45 cm high, how many crabs do you think would fit in that?? It’s 60 gal, I’m thinking 5-6 in total (I have 3 right now) but correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t plan on buying more, I think I’ll wait until some near me need re-homing. Just ...

Re: Tank Upgrade Recommendations
Here are some pics...still working on it and adjusting some things, but will update as I can. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200608/f799b7da85ffe82b3a71a12997a3d3f9.plist I went to Petsmart the other day to get a few more supplies for this crabitat and, while there, saw they had 5 hermits in de...

Re: Tank Upgrade Recommendations
Since your in Aus, much of the reccomendations from US crabbers wouldn't ve applicable unless you want to pay for shipping - and hope it arrives in one piece. Here, tank sizes tend to go up in size by a foot rather than gallonage. So you're looking for something around 90cm (3ft) long, which would ...

Re: Tank Upgrade Recommendations
I just upgraded my crabitat to the largest size Exo-Terra terrarium (36”x18”x18”). Imo, it’s perfect! I was debating between the Exo-Terra and a 75 gallon tank, but really wanted the convenience of the front facing accessing doors. I’m really happy I chose what I did. It does comes with the mesh co...

Re: Tank Upgrade Recommendations
I had a look at the tank you recommended and I’d have to ship it to Australia (it’s not sold here) which is an additional $60 which is unfortunate because I really liked the look and dimensions. Thoughts on Exo-Terras?? There are a few of those hanging around AUS at decent prices, although I’m a bit...

Tank Upgrade Recommendations
Hey guys, So I'm looking at prepping to upgrade my tank to something around 30 gal (got three growing crabbies). I want them to have lots of square footage to dig and roam because they are all diggers from way back. They also love a good climb on a few of the branches i have in there already. Lookin...

Re: New hermit crabs and molting signs
Not an expert on this but my crabs took about 4 weeks to realise how deep the substrate was and to properly start making tunnels if it makes you feel better. Now, I barely see them all at the same time.
I'm sure they'll do their thing in due course.
Good luck

Re: Another crab digging up a molting crab
10 gal and at the point where he decided to molt 6 inch but its deeper in other parts of the tank. I've just added another heating pad to the back so they've got more consistently warm areas to molt because the one that was digging has started showing signs that he is about to molt in the last day o...

Re: Adding Substrate over a Molter
thanks for your responses!!! I've built it up and my other crabs are still going for him. I've moved their food bowl to the other side of the tank and made sure they have all the nutrients they need. The tank temp is good. Ones getting a little bit close to where i know some part of my molters tunne...

Another crab digging up a molting crab
Hey Guys, I've got a molter and my other two crabs keep trying to dig down to him. He has dug down next to the heating pad against the glass so I'm not sure if they're drawn to the heating pad but my tank is usually between 20 and 30 degrees C with humidity range above 80. The tank is 25.3 degrees C...

Adding Substrate over a Molter
Hey Guys, Experiencing my first ever molt (he went down yesterday) and i can still hear him digging around in the sand. Although I've noticed that my substrate (he chose to molt in the play sand) seemed to have gotten shallower. I made 100% sure it was 6 inch when i put it in but since then (it was ...
