Re: Not eating :(
Thank you! I’ll check these out, so would you say they’re tired of the fresh variety that I give them and they might like some dry mixes instead? I do have a moss pit in there and I provide egg shells for calcium as well, so I think I’ll try going a different path. Definitely looking forward to seei...

Re: Not eating :(
Also, I’ve tried giving them honey, natural peanut butter, and egg with a little bit of extra virgin olive oil, they don’t like ANY of that either!

Not eating :(
Hello, my hermit crabs both recently came up from molting about 4 weeks ago and they have been very active, eating, changing shells, and drinking water just fine, but recently they haven’t been eating like they used to. They have been eating fresh fruit and veg ever since I got them as well as diffe...

Re: Heating Alternative?
It should work but you may need to play with the settings. Most come with an automatic shutoff after a period of time, for safety. That's something to watch as well! Yes, mine turns off after 40 mins, so if I had it at medium/low it should be fine right? Since it’ll turn off and I can manually chan...

Heating Alternative?
Dumb question but..... my heating pad stopped working, which was expected, so in the meantime until I get another one, would a “medical” heating pad work to heat my tank? It’s big, has a cloth sleeve, different settings, and it’s for aches/cramps. Do you think I could prop it up behind the tank for ...

Phew, Just Molted!
Thank goodness! Hermes came back up last night, ate, changed shells and is now sleeping! This was definitely a stressful experience, but totally worth it for my first successful molt ever! You guys have helped a bunch and I can not thank you all enough :D I’ll be a lot more prepared for future molts...

Thank you all! This is their first molt with me, so I’m definitely over stressing and worrying way more than I need to.

Re: HERMIES HAVE NOT MOLTED!!!
I AM STRUGGLING! I’m not totally correct, but it has been roughly 29 days that BOTH my crabs have been down. If you couldn’t already tell, I am extremely impatient and I really want them to be done molting so I can redecorate their tank and see them explore. :( This isn’t an emergency, but I plan on...

Re: Molting Questions
Follow up question, my crabs have been moving around as they molt, I think, but now one of my crabs, my strawberry, has stayed in the exact same spot for about a week, does that mean he is almost done molting and might be ready to come back up soon, or the opposite and he’s dying?

Molting Questions
I know I ask a lot of questions, but I just want to be well informed and I have learned so much so far and I appreciate all the advice, but I do have a few questions to just clarify /elaborate on when it comes to molting. It’s been about 2 weeks, going on 3 tomorrow, that both my crabs have been dow...

Re: Half log mold
Most of us think that mold is not harmful to them and just leave it. There is no For sure answer but we have all had mold and our crabs are still ok. Try soaking it in salt water and how it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk To boil it, would I use marine salt or table salt? I appreciate your h...

Re: Half log mold
Yeah, I’m gonna try not to considering how much they love it, but I don’t want there to be any harmful effects on the crabs.

Half log mold
Help! The half log in my crabitat is growing mold! It’s not fuzzy white mold, it’s spotty black mold that’s sort of “embedded” in the log. I figure it’s because of the humidity and misting. My question is, is the log still good and is there a way to remove the mold or do I have to get rid of it all ...

Thank you I’ll see if they like it!JoeHermits wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 5:57 pmTuna, krill, and shrimp are all safe, as are most seafoods.
Generally they’re fine as long as they don’t have any synthetic preservatives added.
