Re: Walking the crab
Frog loves his daily walk on my hands! It is a great way to get him so exercise and he seems to love it! Since writing in this topic he has been a bit more explorative! He has started climbing from one side of my hand to the other as I spin it and he seems very happy! He has also started trying to ...

Re: Soap or no soap for washing dishes?
So many groups label things as TOXIC without having any understanding as to why they think that. It's one of my pet peeves. Dish soap is perfectly safe to wash items with. Tap water is perfectly safe to use for washing and rinsing. Some people like to use vinegar for washing items, and it can be us...

CrabbyLover77 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 5:43 pmI thought they were talking about their food dishes. Mine get kinda grimy so I let them soak in dish soap and water for a bit. For my water pools, I just give them a good rinse with tap, quick dry, and refill.
Thanks so much! Good to know

Soap or no soap for washing dishes?
Hello, I haven't been active in quite a while but I've been wondering if you should use soap when washing your food/water dishes? I have heard some people say they use soap but others say that it's toxic to the crabs. I haven't been using soap but I feel like I'm not washing the water dishes enough ...

Re: Hermit crab molting for TOO long
My old hermit crab RipTide sadly passed away when I went on a trip. My dad usualy turns the heat and lights off and I forgot to tell him not to do that in my room. The temperature got to 56 degrees Fahrenheit. Somehow Salty survived it, but RipTide didn't. The substrate is mostly eco earth. I used t...

Re: Hermit crab molting for TOO long
I am sure it's the death smell because my other hermit crab died recently and the smells are VERY similar. The only difference is that Hawaii's is less strong. Sense I think she is dead, before I get any other hermit crabs, I have to figure out the problem. 1. What kind of substrate is used in your ...

Hermit crab molting for TOO long
My hermit crab Hawaii has gone down to molt. She is a bit smaller than a golf ball. It has been nine weeks and she STILL hasn't come up. On the eight week mark, I found a small hole where I can partly see her shell and grey-ish body hanging out. I haven't seen any movement. I thought maybe it was he...

Re: My hermit crab is limp and not moving!
I just checked the size sheet, and a 10 gallon tank would be perfect for three crabs the size that I am looking for.

Re: My hermit crab is limp and not moving!
Thank you. The smell has gotten so much worse that even with the lid on it started to stink up my room! I have decided bury Salty. :( Also, I can't find the section that talks about Post Purchase Syndrome. Also the size of crabs I want to get is probably going to be about Hawaii's size. Hawaii is a ...

Re: uth side mounting
Ok. I heard that from this YouTube channel, so it is good to know that that is not true.curlysister wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 12:34 pmNo, if your UTH is on the back or side of the tank, and it goes below the line of the substrate, it will not burn your crabs.

Re: uth side mounting
I would put it above the sub because if it is under it could burn your crabs while molting.
Re: Yeast?
In my personal opinion, I believe it is okay to give them dry yeast. It will give them some vitamin B.
