Naked and Confused.
So I noticed the other day that one of my PP's dropped his shell and was streaking. At first, i though it may have been him switching, so i left it be. But the next morning, he was hanging out in the shell pit, still naked. While i dont have a whole bunch of shells, i do have enough in his size. But...

Re: Not eating protein?
Have you tried any other proteins? Grasshoppers, earthworms, a pinky (purchase frozen then thaw it out), plain chicken, river shrimp, bloodworms, krill, lamb, beef, etc. There is such a wide range of proteins to try. They may be getting bored with just mealworms and crickets. Ive tried shrimp, they...

Not eating protein?
So i give my crabs a wide variety diet. Fruit, veggies, coconut, seaweaed, the works. But whenever i put in food that has meal worms and crickets, they dont really touch it. Ive found one dragged around a bit, but nothing obviously eaten. Any tips on what to give them? I have a nut medley on the way...

Running tubes for bubbler
Hey guys, so I'm in the process of setting up a larger tank, and am currently making sure the conditions are right, i.e. humidity and temperature. Ive finally gotten them water bowls big enough for bubbler stones, but my concern is how i can run the tubes through the tank without risking a crabbie d...

Re: Will moss help absorb extra moister in substrate?
I would say yes and no. Dry moss will suck up some water but won't suck it up from the bottom on the tank. Adding moss around water pools with bubblers will help catch overspray before it reaches the substrate. If you have a moss pit you can also swap dried moss with moist stuff. You can do that ov...

Will moss help absorb extra moister in substrate?
Pretty straight forward question. I use the coconut fiber substrate, and havent had an issue with flooding for bacterial blooms, but it's still a concern i have as my substrate is pretty moist. I have a suspended moss pit and was wondering if adding some on top of the substrate will help recapture t...

How many crabs can i have in ISO?
Hello! I have 4 PP all about to molt. I have two currently in iso because they were trying to surface molt or were really close to the surface. Yesterday i was going through my substrate checking for flooding and unearthed my two who are still in the main and still relatively active. I put one in th...

Re: Four crabs molting, with a woopsy on my part
You can gently place substrate on the surface, just don't pat it down. 1" per 24 hours is recommended. You can buy Seachem Prime and Instant Ocean at Petco, Petsmart, Chewy.com, or Amazon.com. Dead crabs completely fall out of the shell with no life left and smell terrible. When crabs are molting, ...

Re: Four crabs molting, with a woopsy on my part
Hello! Welcome to the HCA! I answered your questions with GB for GotButterflies :) Thanks for the info! I do have a moss pit, and only use the fogger when needed. I was going to clean out my tank and add more substrate before i noticed my crabs getting ready to molt, so now it needs to wait till th...

Four crabs molting, with a woopsy on my part
1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? I use Coconut fiber, roughly 4" deep as all my crabs are smaller than a quarter. 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually ...
